Eli Manning says arm has more “pop” after bye week

Eli Manning said Monday he came out of the bye week with more “pop” in his arm, insisting his arm wasn’t weaker before the break.

At the same time, he couldn’t deny the rest did him some good.

“It was coming out where I wanted it to,” Manning said, via Tom Rock of Newsday. “I think it definitely had a little bit more pop to it. That’s something, you take a week off and you definitely get a little bit more fire. It was coming out good.”

As he’s gone through a bit of a slump, Manning denied he had a “tired arm” while going through a four-pick, no touchdown span over the last three games.

“I didn’t think there was anything to it,” he said Monday. “In practices I thought I was throwing the ball well. I felt no fatigue. Obviously in the course of a season you may not realize it, but today, arm felt good.”

Asked for his assesment, Giants coach Tom Coughlin used the single word: “Sharp.”

We’ll see if it holds up down the stretch, and Manning returns to the late-season and postseason form he’s displayed in the past.
