Titus Young, the Lions’ troubled young wide receiver, is being sent home for the week.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said today that Young was told to go home when he showed up at the facility today, and he will be inactive for the Thanksgiving game against the Texans. Schwartz said he doesn’t expect Young to participate in practice this week.

Although Schwartz didn’t explain exactly what Young had done wrong, he said Young’s behavior was affecting the team negatively. Young was believed to be the catalyst for the argument that Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and receivers coach Shawn Jefferson had on Sunday. Schwartz said today that Linehan and Jefferson are fine and “on the same side” in whatever is going on with Young.

Schwartz also said Young has been putting himself above the team, and Schwartz wants Young to know that’s not going to be tolerated.

“It’s your job to make the team happy, it’s not the team’s job to make you happy,” Schwartz said.

Young had two penalties in Sunday’s loss to the Packers, a false start and an offensive pass interference. Additionally, a false start by Lions offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus apparently happened because quarterback Matthew Stafford yelled something to Young about being lined up in the wrong place, and when Cherilus heard Stafford yell, Cherilus thought Stafford was signaling for the snap. Young caught only one of the six passes thrown to him on Sunday.

This is the second time this year the Lions have sent Young home for bad behavior. During offseason workouts, Young was sent packing because he sucker punched teammate Louis Delmas.
