Last night, Broncos running back Willis McGahee believed his knee injury wasn’t serious.

He believed incorrectly.

Per ESPN, McGahee has a torn MCL. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that McGahee also has a leg fracture. He’s expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.

PFT has confirmed the injury. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Broncos are now in the process of deciding whether to put McGahee on IR or leave him on the active roster while he heals.

After the game, McGahee privately was expressing no concern regarding the situation, confident that he’d be fine and that if anything it was a minor sprain.

The injury opens the door for Ronnie Hillman, Lance Ball, and Knowshon Moreno to vie for carries on a Denver offense that has been fueled by a potent passing game.

McGahee has rushed for 731 in 10 games this season.
