At 2-8 with a pair of scintillating road trips to Philadelphia (3-7) and Kansas City (1-9) on tap, the Panthers have gone well past frustration.
Now, they’re not even frustrated with the frustration.
After blowing an 11-point fourth-quarter lead to lose in overtime to the Buccaneers, Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson tweeted out his problem with a teammate.
“Embarrassed to be apart of that last drive! Some people study and work harder than others and they get exposé [sic] in the game #saynomore”
The problems with autocorrect aside, the lack of discipline the Panthers showed allowing the Bucs to drive 80 yards in 50 seconds with no timeouts for a game-tying score and two-point conversion was embarrassing.
At his press conference Monday, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he would have preferred Johnson not aired his laundry via Twitter, but that he had earned the right as a captain to say something.
Rivera has apparently earned the next six games, as well, as he said no changes would be made until the end of the season.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, and I won’t know until after the season,” he said. “I know that much. And I know that nothing’s going to happen until after the season.”
He had few specifics when pressed on whether owner Jerry Richardson had specifically told him that, but at this point, as we mentioned this morning, the inevitability of it makes the timing less relevant.
