Getty ImagesThe Steelers wore the 1934 throwbacks Sunday night, but they might need to break out their 2003 unis this week.
With Charlie Batch scheduled to start because of injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich, the Steelers are apparently going to sign Plaxico Burress to go with him.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Steelers were expected to sign Burress after watching him work out earlier today.
Per multiple reports, they’re also signing quarterback Brian Hoyer, to give them another healthy arm on the roster.

Wow the season is saved!
Steelers set to lose the AFCN and miss the playoffs entirely. Nice season Pittsburgh.
Plax may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer … but he got a very raw deal when he shot himself. Hope this all works out for him.
chedda bob !
Congrats Plax. Hope it works out.
Always loved Plax except for the year he torpedoed our repeat hopes wearing sweatpants instead of jeans. I hope he tears it up in Pitt and earns himself another contract.
good for Hoyer, he deserves a shot at seeing some real palying time. he’s made some pretty nice passes in garbage time over the past couple years, lets see if he can make plays when it counts.
Welcome back, Plax!
I see this as a WIN for the Browns:
Either the Browns will beat these hobbled Steelers;
OR
If the Browns actually lose to these hobbled Steelers, Jimmy Haslam will have everything he needs to justify firing Shurmur.
So either way, I see this as a WIN for the Browns.
Taking care of biz… Hope we can finish next 3 weeks in decent shape. Round 3 with Baltimore will go Steelers way with Ben back.
Solid red zone option to go along with Heeeeath.
Ray Rice… Put the towell away, you did nothing.
Batch to Burress on Sunday.
Christ…good thing clevelands offense sucks. I smell another 13-10 game coming, with the Steelers hopefully on top this time.
I like seeing old WRs getting another chance in this league. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do in such a short period of time.

By that logic no matter which way the Browns head this season you’ll either win or be rid of Shurmur.
desperation…any one else smell it
He should wear #80 again

And if not, it probably won’t be 35-7. Then again, round 3 will probably be in the fall of 2013 rather than January.
Every now and then we do get desperate.
About time for Plax!!!
Brian Hoyer = Better Arm than Leftwich or Batch!!!
Jerrod Johnson = Better Arm than Leftwich or Batch!!!
these signings will help to a point
If Pittsburgh is considering Burress, why not call Hines Ward back, he’s played more recently than Burress and is only a year older. Hey Hines, quick, call Kevin Colbert and take league minimum for 5 games.

Yeah, and your Ravens were really ripping it up the other night. I’d say, worry about your own team, cuz they’re goin’ nowhere!

I love ravens fans- they are obsessed with beating the Steelers- which happens when they continually beat you in the playoffs. Sorry for all the playoff beatings, and sorry you guys chocked last year, best of luck this year.

Ray Rice had 40 yards….laughable.
Careful Steelers, he might give you his best shot.
Desperation to sign players? Geez, I guess the Steelers are the only team in NFL history to sign players when they had mid-season injuries. What are some people’s brains at, do they sit on them?
Enjoy your hater comments now. It’s all good. You all know the Steelers will make the playoffs. Go look at the Giants last year for some education. And at that time, Ben, AB and Troy will be healthy. They will have the number one defense in the league along with one of the most explosive offenses.
Likely result? Do the math. It adds up to number 7 if you ask me.
The ravens played a very vanilla game sunday. You will see them put a show on when they play the steelers at home.
Happy for Plax………..good luck buddy, New York’s mayor screwed you…..hope you play for awhile!
Just a reminder to Plax, you need to be touched once down in order for the play to be over. Do not spike the ball in the field of play, if your not touched!
They signed Hoyer?!!! uh oh, look out AFC North!!!!

Your right, it is laughable. And it’s even more funny when your team wins the game, ha ha ha see, it’s funny, oh wait your team lost, but guess what, it’s still funny….lol, ha ha ha!!!!!

Sorry you guys choked against the packers, then the next year you got Tebowed. Sorry about your 3 game losing streak against the ravens too.
Hoyer move could pay extra dividends during Wild Card week in Foxboro. He must have some info the Steelers could use.
I still can’t believe Burress got 18 months for shooting himself. If he had played and lived in the Midwest, or pretty much anywhere else, he most likely would have gotten probation, just like you and I.
Don’t look now big boys, here come the BENGALS in your rear view mirror.
Ravens played a “vanilla” game last weekend, you say? Sure, that’s because the Steeler defense wouldn’t let them do anything else, no matter what they tried. Oh, and the Ravens had their so-called stars playing on offense. Yep, Flacco, Rice and Smith had gangbuster performances against the old and slow Steeler defense!
The Ravens are pretty good winning games before they really count, like in the playoffs and Super Bowl. Congrats. When the Steelers have Ben, AB and Troy back in the playoffs, the Steelers beat the Ravens by 2-3 touchdowns easy. Ravens might not even score a point if the Steelers special teams play well.
What’s laughable is the Steelers keep losing….Charlie Batch will get crushed in the first series. Lucky for the stoolers that the Chiefs don’t have a quarterback otherwise the Chiefs would have won 35 to 6.
The Browns should win this one Sunday EASILY.
Its funny to hear Raven Fans talk trash when they have literally done nothing but win some regular season games and a couple playoff games. Talk big when you start putting up more hardware then the steelers have. Jealousy at its finest.
Isn’t Charlie Batch 58 years old?
You stay classy, Steelers.
plax gives them another dangerous redzone target to go with miller. kinda scary if ben returns…
That’s OK, Raven fans – your team won, you can talk trash. Deep down, you know that if Ben was playing you would have lost by double digits.
Regardless of whether the Steelers make the playoffs, you guys better be worried.. Steelers gashed your defense and Leftwich outpassed your boy Flacco.

The Steelers are one of only six teams in the AFC that are above .500, but yeah, their going to miss the playoffs?
Wow! Listen to all the Steelers fans trying to convince themselves that Plaxico Burress has something left. Absolutely pathetic.
Plaxico Burress is 35 years old, just like Randy Moss. Moss has 16 receptions this season. Their best days are behind them.
Good job giving up a 31 rushing T.D to the slowest man on Earth. Pitiful defense. If Mike Wallace gets his feet in bounds, you lose to one of the most beat-up teams in the league!
Chargers 31, Ravens 14.

Hah. You DO realize that your Ravens only beat the Chiefs, 9-6, right? Flacco had a PUTRID .3/100 QB rating!
Browns should win easily? Just like they should have against Baltimore if they line up correctly. You’re delusional! Baltimore is no better than us! I don’t care what the records say, it’ll show in January!
The Browns “should” win this game, but as long as Shurmur is managing the game and calling the plays he will find a way to lose it. If Joe Haden can’t go there is no way they win the game. I can’t remember the last time the Browns won a divisional game that wasn’t vs the Bengals.
Poor Plaxico, right time, wrong team. Haley’s offense doesn’t fit his style, besides that it, it gets quarterbacks killed.
Welcome Home Plex! Time to light up the scoreboard in the Red Zone.
You Ravens fans/Steelers haters make me laugh. I sure wouldn’t trade you franchise histories… nor would I trade you franchise futures.
Granted, this hasn’t been a good season for the Steelers. They’re 6-4 against the weakest schedule in franchise history, and they may not win in Cleveland or in Baltimore in the coming weeks.
They also might not win another Super Bowl in my lifetime. But I’m good with all that. The Steelers, going back to the 1970s, have given me more thrills, more enjoyment, more success than any fan has a right to experience.
I can guarantee that if you Ravens fans all live to be 100, you’ll never experience that excitement that I have in half that time.
bobzilla, Ben is just entering his prime. We drafted 2 young STUDS as offensive lineman in the first 2 rounds. Our WR core is phenomenal. Our defense is SHOWING we can handle without Troy. Will Allen is a big hitter.
Draft a safety, a few backers for depth purpose’s and we’ll never go away. With Ben in his prime years, I see him getting to atleast 2 more Super Bowls.
