The Tampa Bay Bucs selected two wide receivers in the first four rounds of the 2010 draft. Lesser-rated fourth-round pick Mike Williams has panned out as a solid starter. Second-rounder Arrelious Benn has been a bust.

As forecasted by Mike Garafolo of USA Today on Wednesday night, the Buccaneers have placed Benn on year-ending injured reserve. The move was reported by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. The Bucs have replaced Benn on the 53-man roster with undrafted rookie receiver David Douglas.

Benn has battled myriad injuries since entering the league, including a torn ACL. A shoulder injury ends his 2012 campaign.

Through three seasons, Benn has managed just 59 receptions for 862 yards and five touchdowns. He bottomed out this year with four receptions in eight appearances, losing the Bucs’ third receiver job to Tiquan Underwood.

Benn is under contract through 2013 at an affordable $575,000 salary, but will have to battle to keep his roster spot.

This is unfortunate. I feel that this may be the end of his career with TB. He shows some signs a life a few times. Injuries have plagued AB. I wish you well sir.
