Everyone calling Clay Matthews overrated needs to not have another conversation about football with anything except a vegetable or pet for the rest of their lives. Show me a 34 OLB who gets 10+ sacks and over 100 tackles. Go ahead, ill wait. 3 words were all Clay needed, “It. Is. Time.” Can’t play the run, huh? Whose the best RB in the NFL? Arian Foster? Go back and watch that game for reference on how” bad” Clay is at stopping the run. Clay is one of the best, get over it.

I honestly don’t think Giants fans are 1 bit jealous of the Packers franchise. You are not addressing a fan base that has no Lombardis (Lions, Vikings) or just 1 (Bears). Remember, the Giants have hoisted the trophy 4 times…exactly the same number as the packers.

The Packers are a great franchise, no doubt. Giants fans are equally proud of their team, and rightly so.

No disrespect to Giants fans, good sir. ConorMcCrybaby is a vikings fan. Several other posters on this thread are also Vikings fans.

In actuality, I was mainly addressing conor, who’s team’s season is all but over. Now he just likes to come on Packers posts and try to rile people up. Too bad most of us know that he’s more pathetic than his team, which I didn’t think possible.

Except Matthews has never been about stopping the run or making tackles. Without sacks Matthews value is greatly diminished. Very few tackles, no interceptions in coverage, and now only 3 sacks in 2 1/2 months. Eventually, you have to talk about lack of stats when the guy isn’t producing any. The problem here is obvious. People are simply choosing to believe what they saw two seasons ago, not what is happening today.

I’m a giants fan and seeing people write about clay being overrated is insane. When you watch him play, his imprint is all over the game just like our guy JPP. Sacks are extremely overrated. Jpp gets doubled and chipped all game every game and still finds a way to stop the run and put pressure on the qb all game long. Same with clay. Stats are for the birds. Stats are what guys like Demarcus ware play for and that’s it.

The Packer fans I know have tremendous respect for the storied tradition of the Giant franchise. And there is certain level of begrudging respect for the Bears and Lions with their meager championship totals.

21 tackles and 3 sacks in 2 1/2 months, and zero interceptions the whole year, for an “Elite” defensive player, and a guy who drops into coverage a lot? Wow! 6 sacks last year for this “Elite” player? I tell you, the other teams are doing a much better job of containing this “Elite” player than he is doing at his end. I’d probably change the word “Elite” with “Decoy”, because apparently that’s where his real value is. So pick one term to describe him…Decoy or Overrated. Either one fits pretty well.

How about the fact that so much attention is paid to Clay, that others are able to get to the QB. Hence GB being 2nd in the league in sacks. In addition, he drops into covereage more than a lot of rush LB’s. Your turn smart guy.

Matthews ranks 231st in tackles and tied for 6th in sacks with 9. Now, the sacks total appears he is an elite sack specialist. However, he only has 3 sacks since September 13. THREE!!! So, we know he is a LB that doesn’t tackle anybody (and never has), and he has made three sacks in the last 9 weeks. Yes, he runs around like crazy with his hair going every which way, but the numbers don’t lie. OVER…RATED!!!

Matthews persona is he is one of the best in the league. And he was, for one season. But, his current production makes him overrated. He has never garnered many tackles for a season. And he hasn’t gotten very many sacks his last 7 games. So tell me, how is he NOT currently overrated?! I watch a ton of Packer games. His name was hardly mentioned in October and November. “Great” players do not disappear over the course of two months. He isn’t a bad player, but there are many current players much better than him.

Matthews is not overrated one bit, hence why I breathe easier. Packer fans can dislike it all they want, but if they cannot get pressure on Eli, he will carve them up with Woodson and Shields out.

Packers had the worst D in the league last year and were still too much for most teams to handle. With an average defense this year, I think GB has a pretty good chance once Jennings is back to start giving the 4 WR look again.
Maybe this season the formula gets reversed. Giants win in the regular season, and Green Bay wins in the playoffs.

GB will have to try to grind out another win as they did last week.

TT built the team to fit the schemes.

Thats why I believe they are able to grind it out when injuries amount.

My biggest concern is the Oline (whereTT has the least depth stocked)vs. the Gmen, it could get ugly if they don’t keep them in check.
