@johnnyjagfan-I agree with all you said about Smith, Blaine etc. I am not excusing them with this. I also don’t think the injury was a direct result of the holdout. I do however think it was predictable. The loss of production was partially because he held out, and was not on the same page as the rest of the offense. You said it, the injury occurred a month and a half into the season…lots of losses piled up during that time. The fault isn’t entirely his, of course, but he handled things badly. I used to think his arrogance was charming (choosing #32 because all teams passed on him), now I just find it annoying.

We now have the worst rushing team in the NFL. Last year we were the best. MJD was the NFL Rushing Title holder last year. He’s not on the field this year. The loss in production is evident of his value. Khan was the loser, here. Listening to that goofball Smith. Add Mularkey’s constant “Blaine needs to be in the game for his experience and for the long haul” and then his backup has one good stat game in a loss and he declares him starter for next year already.

There’s one or two good players on this team. Pointing the finger at MJD is absurd at this juncture.

Jags fans:

What did you guys expect?

MJD was the rushing leader last year. He had more production on a terrible Jags team than guys who were getting paid upwards of 10M. Jags had one of the lowest payrolls over the past few years.

Had he performed significantly below his Cap Hit, Jags would have cut him. So when he outperforms it, and you play public hardball, and then he legitimately does get hurt…. do you really expect him to rush back and risk re-injuring himself?

This is the proverbial “don’t hate the player… hate the game.”

You know what’s frustrating MJD? Having you hold out two years before your contract was due. Having you hold out while you are playing chicken with our new owner–while the rest of the team is trying to move forward with a new coaching staff in the offseason. Then, predictably you get hurt and can’t play for the rest of the year… That’s what is frustrating to a Jaguars fan. You might have made a difference in this miserable season, but you made your choice. I doubt anyone will be willing to pay the man now.

I’m pretty sure the slow healing is linked to the medical condition known as “failure to pay the man” although it is most likely also complicated by a case of “chronic losing”.
