Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said during the week that Willis McGahee’s injury is a great opportunity for Knowshon Moreno. It turns out that Moreno will get his first opportunity on Denver’s first snap.
The Broncos have confirmed that Moreno is the starter for today’s game at Kansas City.
That comes as something of a surprise, because Moreno has been the Broncos’ fourth option for most of the season, behind not only McGahee but also Ronnie Hillman and Lance Ball. Moreno has just eight carries for 15 yards this season.
But Moreno is the guy the Broncos are showing their faith in as the starter, at least for this week. If he doesn’t make the most of this opportunity down the stretch with the Broncos, it may be the last opportunity in Denver for the running back the Broncos took with the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft.
