Its a team game… you win as a team you fail as a team. The giants d def did help them out a lot but the giants d didn’t hit tyree or manningham on amazing plays to win game .. and im a pats fan haha

The determination of whether a player is “elite” or not is largely derivative of how narrow or broad one’s subjective definition of “elite” is.

If “elite” is top 3 QBs in the NFL, most would not see Eli as elite.

If “elite” is top 10 QBs in the NFL, many would concede that Eli can be considered elite.

My take: Eli is a very good QB worthy of much respect. Eli has a long list of positives, but a few that stand out are the following.

Eli takes a mean shot, and is definitely willing to stare down the gun barrel to make a play.

Eli has executed a number of very clutch throws and plays, occasionally on his feet – and is a heady player.

Eli also has a fairly unique style of leadership that is very uncommon — he leads by example with a humble and boyish self-effacing style that belies his courage and poise when the bullets start flying.

Eli is also not short on the dry sense of humor factor either, which is something I consider cool.

My team is not the Giants, but I dig Eli. Whether he’s considered “elite” or not, there’s much to be respected about him and his game.

LOL PPL look at the Ppg of the opponents, but how many points have the Defense scored, The Defense dnt get any Pick 6′s so who have to score to win the Superbowls???? The Offense scores all the points on the Giants. The Patriots were 18-0 and had Brady Quarterbacking and the Giant Defense gave up the lead with 2 min left in the game. Eli Manning won that game…….Breakin away from the Sack and launchin a Ball that Tyree wanted more than Harrison. Brady would have went down, Brees goes down, Rodgers goes down. Only Eli could make that play in the 4th quarter of the Superbowl.

Go look at every “clutch” game eli has played it, it happens to coincide with a great defensive effort by his team shutting down true “Elite” QB’s. His D holds teams to under 15 points per game in his playoff wins and Eli gets all the credit. Only in NY

You fail to mention that in order to win in the playoffs, you have to make them first. Eli carried the team on his back all last season while the defense was injured and played like garbage. Maybe you should give him some credit there.

It’s hard to say whether or not Eli is in that company because the two played in different times. I think a better way to determine whether or not a player is “one of the best” would be to compare them against their contemporaries–and in that case, there is at least 4 QBs playing today that are obviously better than him–Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Tom Brady.

Phil Simms is not elite, and never was. New York just gets too much credit…just like how Joe Namath doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. He wasn’t very good either. When you work in a city that has a higher population than some entire states where other teams are located, your players get undue credit. Every team has fans with unrealistic opinions, theres just more of them up there.
