Saints pay tribute to Payton via team picture

File photo of Saints' Sean Payton watching as his team warms up before playing the Panthers during an NFL football game in Charlotte Reuters

With the clock still ticking on the Saints’ exclusive window to fix coach Sean Payton’s contract extension before he becomes a free agent in February, the players made even more clear their feelings about their suspended head coach in Saturday’s 2012 team photo.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, everyone wore a Payton-style visor, and an empty spot was left in the front row.

Empty spots and seats have been left for Payton all year, and an enormous “do your job” sign hangs in the team’s practice facility.

Saints fans and players surely are hoping that the appropriate members of the front office do their jobs soon and get Payton’s contract figured out so that he won’t have  a chance to leave for a team like the Cowboys.

If they keep winning and make the playoffs they may just get their beloved coach fired. Now THAT would a great story!

If Payton left the Saints for any team not starting Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, Andrew Luck or Robert Griffen III he’d be out of his mind.

Brees is arguably better than all these guys (and this comes from a Packer fan). I know, Brees is getting closer to the end than the beginning. But still, that guy is magic in the voodoo dome.

And anyone who wants to work for Jerrah the Egomaniac either is desperate or has a career death wish. That franchise is poison.

They should send a copy of the team photo, signed by everyone, to The Great Roger Goodell Himself Live And In Person. Maybe with a note along the lines of, “We’re still here and we’re still winning, despite your best efforts.”

What an awesome thing to do. Things like this are what make me even more proud to be a Saints fan. Sean would be stupid to leave this team now. Mr. Benson, do whatever it takes to keep him. Who Dat!

Hey Saints conspierency nuts, explain this one to me:

Why would Goodell want the Saints to lose?

Dumb!! He’s not dead, don’t treat him like it. He’s out because he got caught. Why is it everybody else in the NFL sees it that why except these guys.

Jerry baby is having conference calls with Payton every week. So long Saints, the cowpokes will trumph you on the cash.

I’m sure that besides Saint and Cowboy fans, nobody else really cares.
