Without J. Cutler - It looks like the Bears well.... can't win. "." - I wonder how good they would be with an average or just better than average O-line and a decent tight end that can catch and block. I was watching a game replay on one of the networks and they showed how he will throw to a triple or double covered B.M. rather than risking a throw to any of his T.E.'s. - even if they are wide open! I guess that would be frustrating if you are Cutler. Being a Packer fan ... I hope when we play them ... they triple cover Marshall and leave their T.E. to run sorta free. It's not worth putting a skilled player on one of those guys because they can't catch - most of the time. - Packer Tom

You know, if the two worst things you could find to explain why some folks (not true Bears fans) hate jay Cutler are a year-old Forbes poll and his ill-advised ball-flip yesterday, that ain't bad.

As a Bears fan since the Sweetness days, I have probably watched 99% of the games on TV...Other than Jay (32-19 overall, 13-3 in his last 16 starts), the only QB the Bears have had in that time who won consistently was Jim McMahon (46-15 as a Bears starter, including an unbelievable 36-5 from '84 thru '88.) Injuries killed his career.

I would be in a bad mood all the time too if I was Cutler. That offensive line is a wreck and before Marshall came over he was throwing to one of the worst WR groups ever assembled.
The Packers' line is still head and shoulders above the Bears'. And that was before the Bears lost their only NFL-caliber lineman.

Complete respect for Rodgers and what he does behind that line, but that's like comparing "our shields are at 30%" and "we've lost all shields, cap'n."

I would love to see any other qb in this league play behind the Swiss cheese of an offensive line that the Bears have and be successful like Cutler.
----------------

Rodgers does it.

And Kaepernick is going to get exposed. Badly, pretty soon.

And if we have to go back to SF and beat them for a third straight time, with the three safety look, that kid will be running for his life like Rodgers was last night.

Okay, but the defense and Michael Bush won that game. They got the ball twice inside the 20 because of a fumble and a terrible int. Bush had a 16 play 80 yard drive by himself for a touchdown. Jay played good but let's not start planning a parade in his honor just yet. I have to say that Cutler to Marshall is unbelievable, every pass he threw to Marshall was at least double coverage and it still got through. As a Vikings fan I'm used to horrible pass coverage, but I can't say that was the case on Sunday.

lionsplayoffs says:

Cutler is not a good quarterback. He folds up like a cheap suit any time he finds himself in a big game. This is his seventh NFL season and his career QB rating is 84.1. You pretty much have to be above 80 to be a starting QB. He’s an average QB, at best. Enough with the underrated Jay Cutler and his golden arm. Focus on Chicago’s golden defense if you want to brag about something.

--------------------------------------------------

Replace the name Cutler with Stafford and your comment actually makes sense.

Total cheap shot by Allen, he does that sometimes when he is getting run around and over. His season last year was determination based on the fact he had fallen off the prior year after getting married. Now he just had a baby and the same thing. His stomach looks a little flabby as well as his arms and he's playing like it. Next year he will be back to playing better.

As far as Cutler, he absolutely owns the Vikings. I wish Ponder could throw the deep ball with accuracy like Cutler, Stafford, Rodgers. He can't. Plus the Vikings receivers route running is sloppy with no separation. That is all due to coaching. Musgrave needs to go. They won't get rid of him though because he isn't dropping passes, missing blocks and getting burned. They should blame Musgrave though and Frasier. They need a motivator and someone who will hold the players accountable for stinking up the place. Frasier doesn't do that. Ponder needs to be benched in the 2nd half next game if he plays like this again. He won't be though because of the 3 yr plan Spielman talks about. Ponder is TJAC 2.0 but Spielman is too proud to admit he made a mistake in him, just like Chilly with Jackson.

Most Bears fans, at least the ones who have watched every single game since Jay was traded, have had a full appreciation of him for a long time now. Cutler is loved in the city of Chicago and we could really care less what other people think of him because the Bears win a LOT when he's under center. Next time Jay gets sacked 8 times and the Bears lose, this website will most likely put out another article about his "demeanor" or whatever other negatives you guys love to fabricate and highlight about him, but those who watch him every week will still know that the guy we got under center is the f'n man.

It was a stupid play by Cutler, but there wasn't malicious intent at all (he flipped it underhand). He's obviously not in the elite class of QBs, but he certainly would have a say if his line wasn't complete garbage and another WR position was upgraded. People that say he's not smart are dead wrong- Vandy is a highly regarded university for academics. His leadership is reflected by the way his team plays when he's their QB/leader. Isn't raising your teammates level of play what leadership is all about?

Something has to be done about the officials, Part 1. Everyone saw the horrendous call on Thanksgiving in which the officials somehow ruled that Texans running back Justin Forsett had run 81 yards for a touchdown, even though he was obviously down after just eight yards. But on Sunday not as many people noticed that the opposite mistake was made in the 49ers-Saints game: San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree caught a pass, got hit, put his hand down to steady himself and kept running, about to break a big play — except that the officials whistled the play dead, wrongly thinking Crabtree had been down. If we can’t count on the officials to get it right on a call as fundamental as whether or not a player was down, what can we count on them to get right?

-----------------------------

You media types really crack me up. The first 3 weeks of the season you guys crucified (with Al Michaels being the worst offender by far), absolutely crucified the replacement refs. There wasn't a call they made that wasn't dissected by the announcers or the national media following the games. We were told that the regular refs would cure all ills. The regular refs are much more qualified, the regular refs, according to Mike Perriera, are almost infallible.

The real reason the players hated the replacements is because the regular refs are BIASED towards several star players. Jared Allen is a perfect example, the guy never get's called for anything. One of his quotes during the ref lockout was "The regular refs know not to call that on me".

Well guys you got your regular refs back. Turns out the old refs really aren't that much better than the old refs and they do play favorites. The good thing is that because the media whipped the fan into such a frenzy, the NFL conceded on some things such as the ability to fire refs in season. Congrats Media, give yourselves a pat on the back for helping ruin this game.

—————————–

You media types really crack me up. The first 3 weeks of the season you guys crucified (with Al Michaels being the worst offender by far), absolutely crucified the replacement refs. There wasn’t a call they made that wasn’t dissected by the announcers or the national media following the games. We were told that the regular refs would cure all ills. The regular refs are much more qualified, the regular refs, according to Mike Perriera, are almost infallible.

The real reason the players hated the replacements is because the regular refs are BIASED towards several star players. Jared Allen is a perfect example, the guy never get’s called for anything. One of his quotes during the ref lockout was “The regular refs know not to call that on me”.

It is obvious why Jay Cutler is one of the most disliked players in the league. I don't know if anyone saw the lamest story ESPN has ever done for Monday night football.... an entire story about Cutler's FACE? are you kidding me? You see Cutler get heated in games but come on have you not seen Brady get upset on the sidelines? I'm a huge Culter fan because of his talent and his heart. The guy has Diabetes and is out there every game he can. There is so much negative media out there on Jay as a Bear fan thank you for giving him the credit he deserves.

Cutler is not a good quarterback. He folds up like a cheap suit any time he finds himself in a big game. This is his seventh NFL season and his career QB rating is 84.1. You pretty much have to be above 80 to be a starting QB. He's an average QB, at best. Enough with the underrated Jay Cutler and his golden arm. Focus on Chicago's golden defense if you want to brag about something.

It doesn’t matter what quarterback they replaced, Cutler’s backups would stink it up for any team. They may not be 1-8 on, say, the Patriots, but they wouldn’t be any better than 3-5. This doesn’t prove that Cutler is good. It proves that Hanie, Campbell and the like suck. I think most people realize Cutler is a good quarterback, but he is clearly not elite. At this point I would still rather have both Mannings, Brady, Rogers, Brees, Luck, Griffin, and probably a couple of others before Cutler. Cutler belongs in the Schaub, Flacco, Romo class among NFL QBs.

And still, even after a 10 minute delay, the refs still got the call wrong in the Chargers/Ravens game. Ray Rice's knee clearly went down on the 35 yard line with the ball barely ahead of that, at about the 34 and a half yard line. The refs placed it at the 33 and a half originally and after 10 minutes, placed it there again. It was the wrong call and it sure looked like the Ravens got a gift.

The Crabtree and Raiders calls are way worse than the Forsett call. In real time, it is easy to see how someone could miss someone being down and let the play continue. Players are taught to play to the whistle, so no excuses for players letting him get up and run unless they hear the whistle. That can always be corrected via replay (unless the idiot coach lets his temper get in the way of his judgment and throws the red flag even though he has been repeatedly warned NOT to do just that). However, once a play is blown dead - nothing can be done to correct it. Officials should err on the side of caution and let close plays continue because there are mechanisms in place to rectify the error. If they blow a play dead inadvertently, there is simply nothing that can be done...which we saw twice on Sunday.

Again - when does the media start screaming for reforms that allow the league to suspend/fire refs?

Cutler is one of the best QBs in the league. He plays behind one of the worst offensive lines and has done so for years. He is constantly running for his life and getting creamed by untouched defenders. I seriously doubt Brady/Brees/Mannings could be any more successful than Cutler has been. Rodgers is essentially dealing with the same kind of issue but he has a much better group of receivers. Cutler finally got a decent receiver in Chicago this year. If the Chicago Bears ever figure out how to pass protect consistently they are a true contender with Cutler as QB. The fact that they are a contender right now speaks volumes about Cutler's importance
