Love the selective history of Steelers fans. Under the Harbaugh/Flacco regime, the Ravens are 5-4 against the Steelers during the regular season. The four losses have been by 13 total points, Ben is not blowing them out. 4 of the 5 Ravens wins have been by 12 points. The games are always close, regardless of who plays QB for Pittsburgh. The lone exception was the 28 point blowout last season at M&T, with Ben under center. Stop using Ben’s injuries and legal issues as an excuse. See you Sunday.

If Greg McElroy were good enough to perform well for a team that has eight turnovers and nine penalties, he should be a starter somewhere.
The last time the Steelers looked as pathetic and had as many turnovers as they did against the Browns was last season, when they lost to the Ravens, 35-7. The legendary Ben Roethlisberger was the Steelers’ QB that day.
I’d say Batch held his own under the circumstances.
Tomlin’s teams, going back to 2007 and regardless his QB, have a history of playing poorly (and even losing) against awful teams.

There’s been no report of Ben having any medical procedure or therapy for his injuries, so how in the hell did those injuries of that severity heal or almost-heal that quickly ?

Let’s face it, Ravens defense is going to stop the run and pressure and hit Batch all night long. How can his almost-38 year old body withstand the forthcoming brutality for four quarters ? I’m pulling hard for you and the Steelers Charlie, but if you win it will be epic, if you win without serious injury it will be a miracle.
Let’s hope Tomlin, Haley and LeBeau fabricate a game plan that blows the Ravens minds. Let’s hope the players execute that plan to perfection.

The Steelers typically kill the Ravens with Big Ben behind center, and the Ravens fans know it. It is certainly true that the Baltimore metro area breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when they found out they wouldn’t have to face Ben this year. They still only barely eeked out a win by 3 measly points facing an injured backup. Pathetic.

At this point in time if these teams don’t get a lot of things fixed we will all be watching the patriots lose another superbowl.

Love the swayed stats…Try this: Ravens have won 3 straight, and they’ve also won the last 3 games IN Pitt (regular season of course). Pitt hasn’t swept Baltimore since 2008. And our D? Since the bye week (4 weeks) the Ravens lead the NFL with 14.5ppg

But the steelers have won 2 super bowls in that same time frame.

Ravenator, I will give you and your team credit where credit is due…a win is all that counts. We could go back and forth all day and night with points, counterpoints, facts, opinion and so forth…I’ve read many good posts from you and others on here and frankly also a bunch of bull crap due to maybe blind hatred for whatever reason(s). The facts remains teams have to play the opponent each week on their schedule no matter who suits up. I’ve played & coached football fairly well and know the game better than most people. The Ravens are a very good franchise and will most likely be successful this year and for the near future but I think you better temper your expectations this post season especially if the Ravens experience any serious injuries to a few offensive starters down the stretch or in the postseason. Also I think any die hard Ravens fan will admit that they have been fairly damn lucky in close games this rear. I know they had the bad call against them in Philly and they could have ten wins now…but what about the Chiefs, Cowboys, Pats, first Browns game ,even the second Browns game, the 4th and 29… is this just a team that now knows how to win and a team that is destined to win it all? I’m not sure…the defense appears to be playing much better… Suggs didn’t play for the first six weeks and came back in remarkable time, Ray and Webb have been out since the Cowboys in week five…correct and Jimmy Smith has been out for two weeks…correct? And McPhee was out for two or three games and was back last week or this week…correct? Nagta was out for the Browns 2nd game… the Ravens have NOT had as many games lost due to starters and 2nd string players than other teams in the league …also in about four games the Ravens have been benefactors of extremely poor play calling by opposing teams, poor game management by opposing teams, lucky bounces, but again good teams find ways to win but considering all of this I suggest you and your Ravens don’t book any hotel rooms in early February yet and check your big braggart Internet smack talking mouth at the door.

I hardly think that the Ravens have dominated the Steelers. I seems pretty evenly matched from what I can tell. Except for the playoffs of course. Pittsburgh leads that series 3-0 and the Ravens are at best 500 against the Steelers at home since the series started in 96.

I for one am in favor of sitting Big Ben out for this game like the other post said. He should be completely healthy before trying to come back and I know the steelers coaching staff won’t rush him back. If the steelers can almost beat the ravens with leftwich, they certainly have just as good of a chance to win with Charlie Batch. Regardless, In terms of seeding this game may not turn out to mean much . Of course if the Ravens win, they will run around hooting and hollering like they just won the superbowl because they beat the steelers in the regular season. Of course, we all know what happens to the Ravens when January comes around. They’ll be making their plans to watch the superbowl somewhere like the rest of us.

Please give credit where credit is due. Injuries are part of the game…period. The Browns know about that better than anyone.

Yes, I think Tomlin gets the blame for leaving in Leftwich. I’m a Tomlin believer, but the buck stops there, and I was extremely critical of his decision to leave in Roethlisberger against the 49ers just because Ben wanted to play. Executives need to make executive decisions in the best interest of the team; I don’t care if the QB–whether it’s Roethlisberger or Leftwich–wants to play the hero. Batch played well against the Rams, but apparently his skills have deteriorated. At his age, that can happen in a single off season.

Not sure what you mean about Drew Brees. Because I followed his college career closely, my idea of a great backup for Roethlisberger would be former Alabama QB Greg McElroy, who’s now backing up that sideshow of Rex Ryan’s. Greg’s not likely to ever be an NFL starter, but unlike Dixon, he’s capable of learning the playbook (former Rhodes Scholar candidate) and he has championship experience. So he knows how to perform under pressure. And it’s only his second year in the league so he’s not yet ready for social security.

Don’t you think Tomlin should get just a little bit of he blame for keeping a visibly injured Leftwich on the field against the Ravens?
Secondly, why is that Roethlisberger gets a free pass when he plays lousy while injured but Leftwich doesn’t get the same benefit of the doubt? Leftwich was too injured to throw a football yet he was asked to throw it 39 times.
That 2011 season you speak of — which seems like just last season — Batch replaced Roethlisberger and played well in a 27-0 win against the Rams.
All you Steelers fans who think Dree Brees should be Roethlisberger’s backup is laughable.

We need Cincy to lose a few. Unfortunately, their remaining schedule looks winnable. Sucks that they play the Ravens the last game of the year, they’ll probably sit everyone unless they have a chance at the #1 seed.

As Yogi Berra might say, this feels like deja vu all over again. Our 2011 season went into a fatal skid when Ben was injured and continued to play because we didn’t have viable backups. Did we address the issue in the offseason as we should have? No. 2012 opened with the same “faith, trust, and pixie dust” belief that our starting QB can come through a season of mack-truck hits unscathed–something that’s virtually impossible in today’s NFL. And when he does go down, all we have are Leftwich, who hasn’t finished an entire game in what? four years? and Batch, who’s over the hill. I like our backups, but they just can’t do the job.

Ben is formidable, but he’s not indestructible. A reasonably talented backup could easily have won that Ravens game. On the other hand, Johnny U in his prime couldn’t have overcome eight turnovers. But that’s another topic …

Why does it seem impossible for there to be a logical comment for every Ravens/Steelers post?

If he’s OK, as Ravens fan I hope he plays. If his injuries are as serious as they were previously described I hope he doesn’t as I would hope no one would put their health and well being below football.

No real Ravens fans think the series is dominated and I don’t think any real Ravens fans think any game is a sure shot win. Ravens Fans who say this are not reasonable.

And for Steelers fan’s why not just say “Ravens glad your 9-2, but were not out of it. “It seems it’s impossible anymore for people to give any respect to another team who isn’t theirs when they are deserving of it. Last time I checked all Divisional teams play the same schedule….

While I dont like the Steelers I respect them for their Super Bowl wins and providing a great rivalry in the AFC North.

Ben should sit. Blowouts aren’t fun to watch. The Byron Leftwich lead Steelers only lost by 3 and the Ravens offense couldn’t even score a touchdown. Brian Hoyer has the Ravens shaking in their boots.

Now this just leaves the door open for all the haters to throw out what ifs….well what if pigs could fly. The concept is just rediculous. Jen is not playing because of their weak oline. They have a weak oline because they’ve neglected to add depth for years. They neglected to add depth because they were too busy restructuring contracts of aging, declining talent, players. It’s likely a loss with him or without him. He would make a difference but the O line is decimated and it’s likely he will be further injured. Better to keep him healthy, hope for O line improvement, and take a shot at the last 4 games. SD and Dallas are easy wins for anyone. Cleveland should be a win. Just beat Cincy.

“Hate to say it, but Steelers are done for the season.”

I love to say it, but the Steelers are still in the 6th wildcard spot with only Indy and Cincy to contend with. Go 9-7 and beat Cincy and they’re almost guaranteed a playoff spot, unless Cincy goes 5-1 the rest of the way.

Call me skeptical, but the Bengals usually find a way to come up small in big moments.

Get Ben, Antonio, Woodley, and Troy back healthy for a playoff run and see what happens.
