Before Seattle Seahawks cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner issued a joint statement through the team that they would no longer be addressing their looming four-game suspensions publicly, Sherman did speak briefly to the situation he’s facing on Wednesday.
Just like his play on the field, Sherman is supremely confident in himself and that things will work out in his favor.
“Nothing different,” Sherman said in regards to if focus was lacking this week due to the situation he’s in. “It’s not tough at all. This is the same old routine for us. Regardless of what’s going on, you just go out there and play football. That’s the good thing about the game, you can just go out there and play, you ain’t got to worry about nothing. And there’s nothing to worry about in the first place.
“It doesn’t affect me at all, because it happens like that in life. There are always misunderstandings and mishaps, and all you can do is continue to go about your job the same way you’ve been going about it and let everything play itself out.”
Sherman and Browner are currently appealing the suspensions after being informed last week they were facing four-game suspensions for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Both have said, either directly or through an agent, that they did not take anything illegal and are challenging the positive tests.
Not many players have managed to be successful in getting positive tests overturned, so why does Sherman feel so confident that their situations will be different?
“Because the truth always comes out,” Sherman said. “You just go on, the process is going to play out how it’s going to play out. When you know what you know, you just continue to be confident and continue to go out and play.”
Until the appeals are completed, both Sherman and Browner are eligible to play for Seattle. They are expected to be available to play this Sunday as the Seahawks travel to face the Chicago Bears.
