While these numbers are correct. The truth is hidden in the details. The city of Jacksonville includes all of Duval County. The land area of Jacksonville is over double that of NY the largest market ion the NFL. Big difference between the other cities that only count the city proper. If you look at the Population density, Jacksonville stands at 1,100 per sq mi. One of the lowest in the NFL markets.

Oakland fans have the luxury of 60-65 degree weather in December. Bills fans have 30 degree or lower, high winds and snow in their Decembers. If it’s above 30 degrees, it’s raining during the day and turning into ice by the night.

The place would be sold out, or closer to selling out if they played a team like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England, or Houston. They don’t. They play a miserable Jaguars team that not even their own fans want to watch, unless you call a tarp over the upper sections “fans.”

Just move to Toronto already! There is no excuse for an NFL team to be in an area where there is not enough support to sell out a game. College teams in hobunk states pack 100K seat stadiums and the NFL puts up with non-sell outs for 8 games a year with the most popular league in the Western hemisphere? Makes no sense.

I love seeing the Raiders lose, however I have respect for their ardent fans (even though that fan base is rapidly shrinking like George Costanza in a cold pool) because they never cease to show their loyalty!

Even with the 12+ years of no playoffs, ralph wilson stadium minus 10,000 empty seats is still more fans than the metrodome, lucas oil stadium, university of phoenix, soldier field, oakland coliseum. And this is one of the smallest markets and consistently bad teams. Go Bills!

I don’t see why relocation comes up every time a team loses. As if that is a cure all. If a team constantly loses year after year it doesn’t matter where they are! You really think big city L.A. is going to flock to buy tickets to see the pathetic Bills?

L.A. is not going to readily accept a team from another city. The team will have to turn into a regular winner to sell seats, especially at expensive NFL prices. I was working by St Louis for a while last year and many people there still don’t embrace the Rams and they won a super bowl!

The answer is to win! Nothing else will help. Going to LA just means a bigger empty stadium and more people/media complaining.

I use to live in Pennsylvania but now live in the south Florida area. Just like no one wants to sit in the hot sun to watch a sporting event during a hot summer day, no one wants to go out to watch a sporting event with an average team during Dec and Jan in Buffalo and I don’t blame them.

It sucks but its expected. Bills still have the most loyal and resilient fans in the league, the mere fact that a team that has missed the playoffs for 13 years sold out a game vs the Titans in October is a testament to their fanbase. I would love to see any other team in the league miss the playoffs for a decade and sell out one game. Wouldn’t happen. The Steelers couldnt even sell out a Monday Night Game. Go Bills, we’ll see you in 2013.

Jaguars have made the playoffs in the last 13 years unlike the bills and buffalo doesnt tarp off sections of their stadium like jacksonville does. I remember jacksonville not being able to sell out during good seasons. As a season ticket holder of the bills for 18 years now and only seeing one playoff game its frustrating. Its not that bills fans arent loyal because their probably one of the most loyal fanbases in sports. But who wants to sit in the freezing cold and watch a 4-7 team that will miss the playoffs yet again?

even the most die-hard fan is going to have a hard time justifying freezing their behind off to watch their team close out another lost season against teams like the Jags and the Rams. You wanna sell seats in December, have the Pats, Colts, or Steelers come to town.
