I don’t think much of the so called “evidence” either but here is what I am basing my judgment on:

- GM accepted it and apologized.

- HC accepted it and apologized.

- Owner accepted a $500K fine.

If it was all a sham then why would those three just accept what happened without so much as a word between them?

And please don’t try to tell me that Loomis and Payton were worried about future employment in the NFL. If they knew that the players were innocent then why would they simply throw them under the bus? Lack of integrity or intestinal fortitude?

I for one have never bought into all the evidence that supposedly exists, because I always thought it was nothing more than opinion and hearsay, but honestly this needs to go away the season is about over and were still talking about it. Goodell is a clown and a hypocrite thats abundantly clear now lets move on.

Actually, the Vikings offense scored the same amount of points as the Saints offense. The difference in points were because of the turnovers. You can take it one step further. The Vikings offense usually had to go more yards to score than the Saints. Now if you want to say the Saints had the better defense, I agree. Better offense, not so much. Better all around team, Saints win. However, the Vikings did outplay the Saints on the day of the NFCCG. They also outplayed themselves by shooting themselves in the foot with the turnovers. Saints also had a lot of help moving the ball in OT with the phantom calls to kick the winning FG.

Though I am not a Goodell fan at all, I still can’t believe the people saying this is a sham. Gregg Williams, the Defensive Coordinator admitted to it and it was also found he had that type of program on other teams as well. He pointed his fingers at a couple of his own players saying they participated in it. The Head Coach Sean Payton said, and I quote, ” I take full responsibility…” for what happened. How do you take these two facts and say it was a sham? Now, whether or not this turns out to be substantiated at the hearings is a different story. Just because it’s not proven doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. OJ Simpson anyone?

Cant wait for this Bounty gate fabricated BS to be exposed as the sham it is in court. The NFL tried to make the Saints a scapegoat for something the whole league does ay per performance, so it would look like they were strict about game violence in the pending concussion lawsuits. This is the bottom line to the truth on this whole matter. The smoke and mirrors will stop when on a real witness stand in a court of law.

When is Brees going to get fined for “disrespecting the shield.” Goodell fines players for perfectly legal blocks, for tauting, etc.. Agree or disagree with bounty issue, Brees has been mouthing off for months without consequence.

Drew Brees is the sham and his team perpetrated the bountygate scam, how else does the most worthless team in the NFL historically all of a sudden win a Super Bowl? Sorry but bountygate does explain how the ‘Aints started winning, by cheating of course. I’m glad this team of cheaters was busted and they deserve all the punishment already leveled at them and then some.

Everyone knows the Vikes got cheated and were the better team. Look at the stats and watch the game. Vikings deserved it. But it’s football and all that matters is the final score. You will always have your Superbowl , but we all know its Tainted, that’s why Bree’s keeps crying. I’m sure the NFL has proof that Payton’s buddy pd off a referee or 2, but there is no way they will let that get out, so they just decided to bust the Saints for their in house cheating. The better team doesn’t give away 5 turnovers while only causing one.

The better team doesn’t give away two of those turnovers in the opposing team’s red zone, costing themselves valuable points.

The better team doesn’t cost themselves 5 crucial yards on a 12 men in the huddle penalty. Especially coming out of a timeout.

The better team doesn’t have a QB that throws completely across his body when he can easily run for a few extra yards to guarantee a game winning FG attempt.

You can pretend to disrespect the SB 44 trophy all that you like. Us Saints fans will only enjoy it and appreciate it more with each Vikings’ fan’s tears.

Well I see all of the “Faithful Followers of Goodell” with their mindless rants have learned how to use the thumbs down button.
Everything that Drew says is correct, whether you choose to admit it or not.
There is a very large group of intelligent, fair minded individuals who do not comment on blog posts that can see this for what it is:
A big corporation’s attempt to do damage control by creating a sacrificial lamb.
In the process they have tarnished reputations and wasted years of men’s careers.

I sincerely do hope that Goodell suffers from this. I know he’ll always be a rich man but maybe he can just get a little more egg on that face of his before this is over and done with.

Let’s try this again. No one, and I mean no one in the Saints organization admitted to a bounty program. The NFL, yes the same NFL that you closed minded idoits are hell bent on defending acknowledged that not only were they aware of things like this going on twenty years and they willingly allowed it to continue. And, hell no we’re not going to let it go. You dumb people who said that if the Saints were 10 and 1 right now Drew would be making a issue out of this sound stupid. The point is we’re not 10 and 1 and we probably would be if Goodel and crew hadn’t destroyed us before the season started. And, I’m getting tired of all you standing on your soap box of morality saying that they saints should just take the punishment. I can’t believe I actually used to like Drew Brees. Between his conduct during the lockout and his contract issue and this whole deal I think it’s clear he’s a greedy and very dishonest person. I am very disappointed in what we’ve all found out about him. I mean, seriously anyone with half a brain can see the Saints were guilty but yet he continues to do the Clemens/Armstrong deny, deny, deny strategy? It’s just so shameless.

I love it that Brees continues to expose Goodell for the dopey, arbitrary commish that he is. Best part about it is that Brees is a face of the NFL and Goodell is powerless to suspend him for anything or it will simply come off as vindiction.

This situation reminds me of Gladiator when Joaquin Phoenix was powerless to simply execute Russell Crowe.

For a topic that has been on this site since March, I can’t believe how uneducated some of these posters are. The only person ever to admit to anyone paying to injure anyone is Cerullo. Every other person admitted to a pay for performance program. These programs are VERY common in the NFL. They were a staple in every Greg Williams system (Buffalo,Washington,Tenn). If you were caught speeding and were sentenced to a felony you would probably fight it also. Even if you were given a warning and were caught speeding again it still doesn’t justify a year in jail.

“Cart-off” = injury
Was “cart-off” part of the Pay-for-performance code used by the Saints?

If so, then the program implies that Injury’s are reward worthy.
Therefore, it was a Pay for Injury program.

All of you Saints apologists keep splittin the atom with your semantics, but in the end, if you reward a player for a “Cart-off” then you are rewarding a player for injuring another.

Regardless, I still don’t see a clear advantage gained by the program in competition with other teams.

Part of their punishment is for continuing to defy the NFL, just like Belichick .

Players try to injure other players all of the time, whether there is intent or not is largely in-provable immaterial
So I place no asterisk next to their SB victory.
