APLess than two months after Saints quarterback Drew Brees broke John Unitas’ record of 47 straight games with a touchdown pass on national television, Brees’ streak has been broken. On national television. Like eggs on the windshield of a bus.
As part of their win over the Saints, the Falcons kept Brees from throwing a touchdown pass, snapping the NFL-record string at 54.
Along the way, the Falcons intercepted Brees a career-high five times.
Brees’ streak began on October 18, 2009. By next season, the record could be broken. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has thrown a touchdown pass in 43 straight games. He would set the new record midway through the 2013 season.

LOL Drew Greeds. Nice to see him get his comeuppance.
Who dat think dey gonna get to the playoffs?
We know it, they know it, huh, Drew? Go brush your mole.
5 interceptions? Drew Brees demands explanations!
What great news!
Brees sucks.
The Atlanta Falcons just Katrina’d the New Orleans Saints.
Do pick sixes count?
Good. Maybe now the Saints will shut up.
Drew Brees demands an explanation!
Nancy Drew Brees put on quite a show tonight. I think the party’s over, sweetheart.
Touchdown streak OVER, playoff hopes OVER, Saints season OVER – compliments of the ATLANTA FALCONS…enjoy your eggs!
Been a while since I’ve been this disappointed at the Saints. First time since Brees has been the QB. Horrible overall game and season. I’m ready for next season.
Over/under on “Brees wants an explanation” comments: 7.5.
I have no dog in this fight , I honestly don’t like either team, at all,but after hearing Brees talk out of his ass all season, I’m happy to see this.
I’m eggstatic
The biggest egg thrown was by Brees
the only difference between Brees’ 5 INT gam,e and Ryan’s? Falcons won, Saints lost.
Goodnight New Orleans. See you next year.
inb4 Falcons cant win in the playoffs… cause that’s all you guys have now.
Maybe now people will actually talk about our D. We’re top 5 in scoring defense for a reason.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
The Falcons snapped the TD streak. The Falcons snapped any hopes of the Saints going to the playoffs. The Falcons fans snapped a bunch of eggs on their bus! LOL!
Flawless Victory!!! And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer, more upstanding bunch of losers.
Signed,
Falcons Fan
(P.S. Gotta go to the store for some breakfast items and meet the fellas at the airport. Peace!)
Who dat going to go home all sad!
This may have been Drews worst game as a professional. Poor clock mgmt at the half and five picks all on him. Even the greats have bad games…
On deck Tom Brady, although Brady is more of a winning guy. Records have never mattered to him. I doubt Brady would call for the game to stop after he broke the record so the crowd can give him a standing ovation.
QB’s are throwing 50 times a game.who cares about the streak.
Good. So sick and tired of hearing about something that means virtually nothing with a guy who throws 700 passes per season.
Atl one and done. book it. did they even complete a 3rd down. weakest 11-1 team ive ever seen.
I want NFC South fans to know that I didn’t watch one second of this game and wouldn’t have even known the game was even being played had I not checked out PFT like I do most evenings. Whereas I know NFC South fans will be glued to their sets on Monday Night to watch RGIII and the Redskins take care of business, wheather they want to admit or not. Now, Falcon and 49er fans, you all better pray you don’t run into the Redskins in the playoffs because both teams are the easiest #1/2 seeds I’ve seen in quite a few years. That is all.
Good, Drew Brees deserved it. Along with the rest of the team.
Was a garbage record anyway considering one of the TDs came with 10 seconds left in a blowout loss to the Rams.
Great Streak for a future Hall of Famer. Brees is classy as hell.
I hope Brady gets it. He’s Mr. Bundcheon, Mr. GQ, Mr. Class, Mr. Humble and the best Quarterback to ever play the game.
The Unitas streak is still more impressive.
I don’t know, what with the Patriots re-established run game (@)(@)
Where’s Corey Dillon and his full-length white mink coat?
Haha loser who dat who day . Haha the saints suck and so does brees who only had the record cuz they called timeouts when the game was over just to get a td hahaha
It’s a heck of a record that very few could even get close to. I hope he’s not too broken up about it, he should be proud.
He will blame it on the nfl for their sham of a bounty investigation. I’m smiling ear to ear Drew you blowhard.
Let’s pray that this was Brees’ “Delhomme moment.”
Never underestimate the power of eggs.
Go Tom Brady. Let the Saints tainted superbowl and all of Breezes self grandizing records fall into the ash heep of history!
Soooooo where’s the AINTS Fans!! Que up the Hate Board!!
Oohhffff
Would be hilarious to see Tommy break Brees’ record.
Pats play the Saints next year, be great if it was week 7 so Brady could break it vs Brees.
Streak was extended by a cheap TD late in a loss against the Rams anyway. Glad it’s over.
It was broken against the Rams a season or two ago as far as I’m concerned. Breed is a classless statpadder.
Them Dirty Dirty Dirty Birds Baby!
Time for Brady to come and sweep another record..
Ha ha
Does the record include playoff games or is it just reg season?
Congrats to Brees on a good run. Another record for Brady to now catch
You can bet that game 8 of the Patriots season will now be a freaking night game so the league can showcase this streak, which is no big deal in today’s NFL.
As a footnote, Brees did not play in Week 17 of the 2009 Season, resting for the playoffs.
Johnny Unitas’ much heralded record of 47 games was also interrupted when he missed two games (November 9 and 16, 1958) due to injury.
The most consecutive games played by any NFL team, in which one specific person had a touchdown pass in every game, is 43. That record is shared by Drew Brees (ended last night) and Tom Brady (active).
Brees put up a goose “egg” in TD department.
The Saints just made too many mistakes; it’s just not their year. They are the best 5-7 team I’ve ever seen. Falcons weren’t too impressive, but made the big plays when they needed to. I’m still not really convinced they’re all that good, for some reason. Their FG Kicker is solid, though.
That’s not the only thing snapping around here. The other snapping noise you hear is people’s ankles breaking jumping off the Saints bandwagon as quickly as they were hopping on two weeks ago.

If Brady’s streak is still alive, the schedulers will no doubt schedule that game in prime time against the Saints or Colts. Anything to squeeze an extra storyline out of it.
When exactly did NFL football transition from a legitimate sport to a marketing machine? I actually find myself rooting against certain playoff matchups just because of the looming incessant storylines for the Super Bowl. The stories often get more attention than the game itself. If the Giants and Broncos make the big game, the coverage will be unbearable.
Lets not forget how much the falcons contributed to the streak.
@logicalvoicesays:
Falcons 24, Redskins 17 in DC. Yup, I’m sure Falcons are praying they don’t run into RG3 and the non-existant Skins secondary in the playoffs. And I’m not even a Falcons fan.
I used to like Drew Brees, but now I can’t stand the sight or the sound of him. He whined about BountyGate again in last night’s pre-game show. At least now we won’t have to listen to him carp a “comeback from adversity” narrative into the post-season.
Even if Brady does break it, it’s really not that big of a deal.
It would then go to someone who, as another commenter pointed out, has a ridiculous number of passing attempts to someone who is coached by a guy who would air it out while up 3 TDs in the fourth quarter.
Still, if we’re talking about lesser of two evils, I’d rather Brady have it. Brees really showed his posterior during the labor situation and bountygate.
It was pretty easy for the Falcons to get those last picks considering Brees would pass on every down to keep his streak alive.
Falcons fans should note that even with 5 picks the game was still close. Like the Pats earlier in the season, Falcons offense couldn’t put it away. Lucky to get a long FG to extend it to 10.

Lucky?? Really? Is that what it was?
I am positive if you asked Brady about the streak or breaking records… he wouldn’t care one inch about it… he and BB are focused on one thing… the Miami Dolphins… 1pm Sunday.
When that game is ovah…
Then … Houston
Then… San Fran
Then… Jacksonville
Then… Miami…
Then Playoffs
Then Super Bowl…
