Colts quarterback Andrew Luck got the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, but the NFL has named the guy drafted right behind him as the best offensive rookie for the month of November.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been named winner of the monthly honor for the second time this season. He also won it in September with Buccaneers running back Doug Martin getting the nod for October.

Griffin and the Redskins opened November with a loss to the Panthers, but they returned from their bye with two straight wins to move to 5-6 on the season. Griffin threw eight touchdowns and nine incompletions in those two games, an impressive pair of performances that also netted him the NFC offensive player of the week for Week 11’s 14-of-15 performance against the Eagles.

He joins Sam Bradford as the only quarterbacks to be named offensive rookie of the month twice in the same season. Bradford went on to be named rookie of the year, although the Rams couldn’t win in Week 17 to get themselves into the playoffs. Griffin seems like a good bet for the individual honors and a playoff berth could still be in the cards if he keeps playing at the level of the last two weeks.
