Giants could be without Phillips and JPP against Skins

Jason Pierre-Paul, Robert Griffin III, AP

The Giants could be without a pair of defensive starters Monday, for a game in which their defense needs to be at full strength.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants listed safety Kenny Phillips and doubtful and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul questionable for their game against the Redskins.

The Giants have worked around not having Phillips, but not having Pierre-Paul against Robert Griffin III and the Redskins would complicate things greatly.

Pierre-Paul missed his second straight day of practice Saturday with a back problem, though coach Tom Coughlin was optimistic about his status Friday.

The Giants also listed tight end Travis Beckum (knee) as out, linebacker Jacquian Williams (knee) doubtful and tackle David Diehl (shoulder) and receiver Domenik Hixon (ankle) questionable.

JP will play. But Kenny keeps saying every week that he will play, but they keep ruling him out.

The one game he comes back, the Giants defense plays like it is capable. We absolutely need him.

I love how the divisional rivals like th throw out excuses before facing the Redskins. Welcome to reality, where the Washington Redskins are superior to Philly, NY and Dallas. This is a 10-15 year run where the Redskins will win at least 3 Super Bowls. Final score this Monday Night is Redskins 48, Giants 21.

Only 48 points? Think you might be undercutting yourself there, logic.

I’m a diehard Skins fan but can’t we at least get to, and win, a playoff game before making proclamations of being the next dynasty? We’ve been wandering in the NFL wilderness for 20 years and I’m really looking forward to actually playing an important game in December this Monday night. But the reality is we are still 5-6 and need to show it on field that we’re ready to take the next step. Till then, lets cool the jets.

need to get back to .500 before we win 3 SB’s. jpp will play, should be a fun game to watch

Hopefully Giants find a way to get up for a 5-6 Skins team with a horrendous defense. We slept thru the first game and still won so we’ll see what happens Monday night

Yeah, we haven’t heard any excuses at all this year about players being out for Washington.

I don’t think that an updated injury report technically counts as “making excuses”.

You are an embarrassment to realistic football fans everywhere.

Really I know RG 3 is the man but where is this sense of entitlement coming from? How about beating the giants before proclaiming your team is better? Win a division, playoff game .. Anything before thinking your winning multiple super bowls.. Fact is your team is still avg.. Is up and coming but still avg..

  11. nananatman says: Dec 1, 2012 4:40 PM

15 years and 3 SuperBowls? For the skins!? 3 is the right number, it’s how many turnovers the skins will cough up Monday, and how many years RG will be adequate for, it’s also the highest place in the division you’ll finish this decade:) Anybody who hands a dynasty to a 5-6 team is developmentally delayed. That’s logical.

I bet Voice is currently designing the SB XLVII merchandise for the Redskins’ inevitable victory after their non-existent playoff run.

  13. logicalvoicesays says: Dec 1, 2012 5:03 PM

This is no “sense of entitlement.” Fact, we have a better roster, QB, HC, owner, fanbase, history. You name it, the Redskins are just better across the board. Deal with it or go pout. Fact is, the Washington Redskins are the standard of excellence in professional football and You Giant/Eagle/Cowboy fans could never and will never get over it. Even in our worst years, we got more attention…so now that we are excellent on the football field and have the best QB the NFL has seen since John Elway hung up his cleats, you are all jealous. Look at the fear spewing from the Giants locker room in the lead up to this game. Pathetic.

long time eagles season ticket holder here, so will respectfully comment on wash, a div opponent. wash should be very good for a few yrs led by RG3. however his style of play will result in hits, injuries, missed games, a shortened career and thus a shortened redskins’ run.

wash and shanahan had a lotta balls to go after RG3 the way they did. took a huge risk and deserve credit.

As a former owner of the Redskins and famous trial lawyer once said: “Even when you don’t, tell your opponent you expect to lose.”

Dude, you’re delusional. I’m a lifelong ‘Skins fan for 60 years. You’re sounding like the late Al Davis and his “Commitment to Excellence” that wasn’t for the last 10 years of his life.

Giants have won two SBs in the last five years. ‘Skins haven’t made the playoffs since Joe Gibbs As far as the “owner” is concerned, he’s been ripping seats out of FedEx Field as fast as he can to keep the sold-out streak intact.

Last time the ‘Skins had a winning record was 2007 under Joe Gibbs. Since then, 8-8, 4-12, 6-10, 6-10, 5-11. Standard of excellence, my ass. Whatever you’re smoking, it’s working!!!

But for turnovers, the Giant’s D could not get off the field in the first meeting.

Expect a shootout and greater concern should be directed to Nicks and Dixon injuries possibly limiting the Giant’s passing attack.

    Logical voice.

Let me get this done quickly so I can move on. The giants have the 3rd most championships in NFL history and posted a season once which they allowed just 13 points. But here is where I will really make you cry.

The skins, outside of the 70s would always fallow the giants in the Superbowl. But here is where things get fun. After 1992 the skins would start a Superbowl slump in which the cowboys made and won 2 super bowls, the eagles made one somehow and the giants have made 3 and won 2. All that has happened since your teams last super bowl. Also your best qb since 2000 was the son of a former giant

LOL I would of thought they were the standard of Mediocre….

Nicks was 100% last week. I assume he will be good to go this week. Dixon (or as I call him, Domenick Hixon) is the Giants 4th receiver. If they only go into this game with Nicks, Cruz, Randle, Barden, and Bennett on the receiving end, they should be OK. Beats Garcon, Moss, Hankerson, and Morgan. But I’ll give you Morris…the guy is a beast.

Just think when the Giants beat the Skins, local will have a great excuse (hahahaha) and will say the Skins organization is better and they will beat the Giants next season and then he will seem clueless for about 8 or 9 months.

Giants have the smarter owner, he knows he doesn’t need to buy players to win, you just need to draft correctly.

  23. bigwayne75 says: Dec 1, 2012 9:58 PM

Doubtful is 75%, he won’t play
Questionable is 50% (but recently it seems that number has gone down)
    Probable is 25%

This is a huge game, JPP and Hixon will play. I also believe KP will play.

Giants will win this one, they know to win the big games when comes down to clutch time, the Skins don’t.

Don’t forget, NOTHING works in Washington, which is why the country is in bad shape. Redskins are from D.C., right?
