No intent to condescend. Fewell will not change any approach bc of Phillips inclusion or exclusion other than to cover Phillips from isolation against the run bc of his weak range due to his injury. The style of play by the Skins demands pressure from the outside with a floating linebacker. Safety is really a non issue with zone coverage. Now against a pocket QB with lower likelihood of scramble an good play action, Phillips intuition is a help. My main point is to look at what Stevie has done, has he not shown range, tackling, intuition and coverage well beyond what Kenny has produced this year?
And it also allows for Rolle AND Phillips (or Brown, depending on Fewell’s call on a particular snap) to better assist in run support on Morris — and not spend 2/3 of the game in a trail or tilted reacting to the run, which is what happened in the first game.
__________

To be honest we don't have the tackling ability and closing speed at the LB position to stop the run effectively. That being said the Redskins don't have have the defense to stop us from throwing points on the board, forcing them to abandon the run playing catch-up. The Giants need to focus on; 1. Getting an early lead 2. pressuring RG3 into making throws on the run towards his weak side, He will eventually make a mistake. We employed this tactic against the Godly Holy Eagles, (GMen's Daddy, My Daddy) during the miracle at the Meadowlands until we abandoned that plan in and allowed Dad to beat us for the worst loss in Giants history.

Unless you trust Sash or Will Hill as the other safety playing double high, which no one in their right mind should at this point.

Kenny playing tonight allows Rolle to stay in the box and help contain Griffin. How this is not readily obvious to any Giants fan going into this game is beyond me.
-----------------------

Point is; with Phillips injured he is a liability. You are obvious unfamiliar with the Giants philosophy of; sum of the parts. Phillips nor any other defensive and offensive player other thank Eli is a complete game changer. We are a team built with depth bc that's what wins late in the season. Rather than have a half able player play we can bring a replacement in who is up to speed and able to fit into the machine that is the 2012 reigning world champions. Replacing Phillips with Stevie Brown will not hurt us like it would hurt the Steelers replacing Polamalu on the or the Ravens replac. Reed. Stevie has the speed and awareness to cover for Rolle, 5 interceptions on the year has to count for something in regards to coverage and field awareness. furthermore we dont play run capable QBs that way, with a spy. We will overload his strong side forcing him to move towards his weak side and limit his options. Come on, Giants 101 here.

Well, safety Kenny Phillips won’t play which increases the Redskins chance of winning from slim to possible.

Actually I’m glad to see the Redskins rise again while at the same time the Eagles look like they have some bad seasons in front of them.

Washington has been out of it for too long in a division that prides itself on being the strongest in the NFC.

Just don’t expect too much too soon. Even if you get past the Giants, what will Rodgers and Ryan do to your pass defense?
——————-

Kenny is pushing to play and Tom wants him to play. He is a game time decision, not declared out.
——————-
And to be honest, Stevie Brown has been a good replacement. Not sure if Kenny playing or not playing is a game changer. Fully fit hes a very good player but in his current state, Stevie Brown is on par maybe better.

I think the Redskins are a better team than the Giants and not just because I am a Skins fan. The Skins gave that first meeting with the Giants away, we had it won with one stop with a minute left. I used to have no respect for Eli Manning and thought he was a punk but I must admit now that he is a very good qb. I think it will be a great game and an offensive shootout. Redskins 38 Giants 31. Hail!

Just a wild guess, but I would hazard the two comments you cited were both by Redskins fans. I know it sounds crazy, but most fans’ allegiances don’t change when their team’s record drops below 500.

I was a fan of the Patriots even when they went 2-14 ..... at no time did I have delusions of them being anything but a 2-14 team.

Not saying they should drop their allegiiances, Francis, just keep a grasp on the reality that your team is 5-6, and nowhere NEAR a playoff-caliber team.

These teams love motivating the Giants. I noticed the Gmen are very quiet this week. Much like they were before walloping the Niners and Packers. Redskins should be studying. Not yapping nonsense at the defending champs. You got beat by a great QB making a lethal read with his receiver. Rg3 can dazzle all he wants, but Eli Manning has shown that one quick strike is all it takes. Hey Redskins! Stop poking the NY Ninja at QB!

Redskins should be studying. Not yapping nonsense at the defending champs. You got beat by a great QB making a lethal read with his receiver.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda... Wow, I guess people just can't avoid these things. Come on guys, this is looking like grade school with the back and forth on who's going to win. It is an important game for both teams, but as with previous seasons, all that matters is the last team standing.

We'll see who really is a better team.

Giant’s D gave up 485 yds in the first meeting. Over 200 yds on the ground. Same holes this time around. Redskins by 14 if they can play a turnover free game.
--------------------------------------------------
Giants D is playing better now, yes the Skins are playing better too. I just trust a team that been there done that, that knows how to win the big games , they did it so many times, until the Skins have won a few big games, I will go with the Giants against the Skins every time.

One thing the Giants are good at, are rematches example SF and the GB last season. The Giants must really want to put a hurting on the Skins, I haven't heard any trash talking from the Giants for this game.

Giants' Osi had a big game last weekend, if he is starting to play like his younger days, the Giants D-line will be scary.

Eli lite up that secondary last time, he will do it again. RG3 will have a huge but I don't think he can go blow for blow with Eli, just because the Giants have the better WR core, and better defense. If the Giants can't stop the Skins run game, it could be trouble for the Giants. If the Giants get up by 14 or more points early on the Skins, I believe it will be a long losing day for the Skins. This should be a good game and I wish this game was playing right now, I can't wait.

Now it is,
“That’s right…Everyone will be watching.”

“For more than a dozen years, the Redskins didn’t know how to win games. They routinely lost games they should have won. That seems to have changed. We’ll see on Monday night.”
———————————————————

Umm… why all the “love” for the ‘skins, people?

Last I looked, they were a below .500 team with a 5-6 record.

I guess 5-6 is the new 9-2????
_______
Just a wild guess, but I would hazard the two comments you cited were both by Redskins fans. I know it sounds crazy, but most fans' allegiances don't change when their team's record drops below 500.

The fact your still grasping onto beating the giants twice last year is truly pathetic and shows how irrelevant the skins have become with fans needing to cite meaningless games to talk smack.

Crawl back in a hole until you can grasp at tangible evidence such as division titles first, playoff wins second, NFC titles, and finally championships. Remember, take baby steps son. That playoff win over Tampa bay as a wild card was a LONG time ago.
