Sean Payton and co. Did appeal the decision... They aren't bringing it to court during the season... Can you imagine the mess it would be. changing coaches isn't like changing players... Two different coaches is enough for one season...
But good job to everyone making judgments without having all the facts pubic yet.. And a special gold star to those who didnt even brush up on the facts already out there!

The head coach did appeal, but was denied. The DC did not, although the overriding idea why he did not was that A.) he is guilty of running a pay for performance program and B) he is being a good boy for Goodell so he has a chance some day of coaching again.

Vilma’s devotion to clearing his good name are the actions of an innocent person. I can’t see why someone would go through all of this trouble when there doesn’t appear to be any circumstances beyond what the NFL imposes. I sure wouldn’t want some of you other people making comments ever sitting on my jury, deciding my fate before all of the facts are in. Some would call it prejudice and ignorance.

---------

I was thinking the same thing. It's a good thing these people aren't members of the jury in this case. They'd find Vilma and everyone else guilty, based on the fact that they "don't like him." Morons.

I disagree. Vilma's actions bear all the hallmarks of someone who has painted themselves into a corner and, in such a high profile case, he will need an excuse or someone to blame for this to be over.

Something like a judge or jury who finds against him would probably do the trick.

The NFL is a business. Surely they would have realized that if there was not enough evidence to hold their position they would have forced Goodell to swallow some pride and cut their loses and run.

As they have both parties have stood their ground, I just consider which one would be bright enough to take this professionally and which one displays too much public bravado to own up.

Those posters here that belief Vilma is lying, It's not just lying - it would be full perjury because he has made sworn statements to the federal court to that effect. And if Vilma has perjured himself, so have about 10 other people including Joe Vitt.

they are all not just lying to some reporter or on twitter, but that they have all (including those not implicated) risked felony perjury conviction to try to save face over this bounty thing?

Williams and Cerullo have only signed a coerced affidavit with hopes that by complying they could both coach again in the NFL. This whole dog and pony show will soon be exposed in court. Bank it.

Now who's being ridiculous?

truthfactory says: Dec 1, 2012 10:23 AM

I think Vilma is starting to believe his own lies that he did nothing wrong. If Williams were to lie, his biggest reason to lie would be to deny everything to save his own ass. I cant imagine him lying so that he would knowingly be banned for 1 year, and most likely never coach again.

My point is that if he were a liar, his benefits of denying everything far outweigh any benefits of making the whole thing up as Vilma has accused him of doing.

Vilma is GUILTY.

----------

Actually Vilma has never said or even indicated he did nothing wrong. What he has said is he participated in a pay for performance program which he knew was wrong. However he also said he did not participate in a bounty system which is what he is being accused of and punished for.

As a side note I've notice many of your vindictive and half truth postings on this issue and it really is sad. You stand out amongst the many. Not exactly sure if you're just incapable of being subjective or there is some vindictive agenda here.

Vilma is going to see this through to the end and obviously by his comments Paul Tagliabue is jsut as impartial in these hearings as Roger Goodell and why shouldnt he be since it is PT's law firm that is defending Roger Goodell in the defamation case. This matter will only be settled in court with witnesses under penalty of perjury when they take the stand. That is something Vilma and several players have already done but soon it will be Cerullo, Williams and even Roger Goodell's turn on Judge Berrigans stand. A guilty man would just let this go but Vilma has been falsely accused and their will be no rest from this until the truth eventually comes out in a court of law.

Vilma's devotion in this case would be the actions of someone who knows his career is on the downside and wants to pocket his millions in salary for the season. If this can be dragged out a few years until Vilma is long gone from the league and he is suspended for a year, I am sure he would care less. Not like he is anywhere near a HOF player and has that much of a legacy to protect.

I'm so sick of bounty gate. Football is a violent game and while I disagree with bounties 100% I find it hard to believe these Saints players were trying to hit harder then all other teams players were for what amounts to chicken feed to an NFL player. If other teams were playing so cleanly we wouldn't be seeing fines for illegal hits being passed out on a weekly basis.

Vilma's devotion to clearing his good name are the actions of an innocent person. I can't see why someone would go through all of this trouble when there doesn't appear to be any circumstances beyond what the NFL imposes. I sure wouldn't want some of you other people making comments ever sitting on my jury, deciding my fate before all of the facts are in. Some would call it prejudice and ignorance.

Brees & Vilma have done more to harm the Saints than the initial process. You were caught processed and diciplined, now take responsibility. Brees wants to keep this thing going and as a result his team is paying the price. Perhaps are we trying to posture to secure a job with the players association when his career is done. Brees said recently that "everyone know this process is a Sham". Well Mr. Brees most don't believe that. C'mon shut up and play football..

@mojo... thats why you're not a judge LOL. Its obvious that Williams was bullied into lieing to save his reinstatement however so, Goodell did not have enough evidence to carry out his smear and they players arent going away. Federal courts have given the league all opportunities to come clean. Oh well, looks like the players will win this one.

Goodels punishment was fair considering the saints were warned for years to stop and the choose to ignore the commish. So they got the full season suspensions. Completely fair and imo it should be longer for vilma for trying to convince everyone that there isnt any shred of evidence and for talking all this crap bout how its a witch hunt and acting like a immature lil baby and talking trash bout the commish. In the end every single saints player who opened their mouth and talked trash will look incredibly dumb when the suspensions are enforced. Especially Brees and Vilma
