Chiefs get second win, a moment’s relief

Nothing that happened on the field is going to comfort the Chiefs.

But for a moment, this will help.

A day after one of their own committed murder and then suicide, the Chiefs held on for a 27-21 win over the Panthers.

The Chiefs played a clean game from start to finish, with Brady Quinn completing 19-of-23 passes  for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Coupled with a 127-yard day for running back Jamaal Charles, it was the kind of game Kansas City fans haven’t enjoyed much.

It snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Chiefs (2-10), and marked their first win in regulation this season.

The Panthers (3-9) problems were with a defense that couldn’t stop anyone, ruining another in a string of positive games for quarterback Cam Newton, who threw for three touchdowns, with no turnovers.

All the pain, all the sadness couldn’t keep these men down. Great effort by the players and coaches today. Great effort by the Chiefs organization as a whole.

Chiefs give game ball signed by all players and coaches to Jovan’s parents for touching keepsake. Team record 2-10 plastered on side. Big boost to go 4-0 the rest of the way shouts Coach Crennel.

Yeah Brady Quinn sucks, I don’t know that I’ve seen a QB in my lifetime as bad as Cassel. I say they have to go with Brady Quinn for the rest of the season, as depressing as that may sound. Hell even if this was the only good game he has all season that’s still more than Cassel has had.

They came together and kept it clean. Zero turnovers (which has been their demise this year), and only one delay of game at the end for penalties. Great win Chiefs, and I hope Romeo can come back as DC next year.

If this team plays well the last month, it could change the dynamic around keeping Romeo. Today he got some much needed credibility as a leader. There are many other strategic reasons to consider retaining him.

Give him a franchise QB and the guy’s probably a great coach.

If Brandon LaFell makes that catch, there’s a good chance you lose. With only 2 wins, you are hardly qualified to look down your nose at us. We’re both going to have top 5 draft picks.
