It seems the Cardinals are starting to feel the strain of losing eight straight games.

Arizona Sports/KTAR Radio is reporting that defensive end Darnell Dockett and safety Kerry Rhodes were involved in an “on-field incident” near the end of Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the Jets. There aren’t any details of what went on during the “incident,” but whatever happened will reportedly lead to disciplinary action against Dockett. Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt was a guest on the station Monday, but he offered no insight when asked about what happened.

“We generally prefer to keep internal matters like that within the team and not discuss them publicly,” Whisenhunt said. “I think we’re going to continue to do that going forward.”

Darren Urban of the team’s website writes that he’s unaware of anything happening between the players, although he does acknowledge that Dockett intimated something had happened while speaking with another reporter. Dockett didn’t go into any details, though, so it doesn’t provide much insight into what went down.

It’s a bad situation in Arizona, so it’s not surprising to hear about players losing their temper as the season continues to swirl down the drain. There aren’t any signs that things are going to get any better either, and that may mean it’s not Whisenhunt’s problem too much longer.

UPDATE 9:28 p.m. ET: PFT has learned that Dockett spat in Rhodes’ face during an argument over whether to let the Jets score late in the 7-6 score.
