Sean Locklear carted off with right knee injury

New York Giants' Bradshaw vaults Green Bay Packers' Hawk on his way to a touchdown in their NFL game in East Rutherford Reuters

New York Giants right tackle Sean Locklear was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game against the Washington Redskins with an apparent right knee injury.

Locklear was engaged with a defender when a Redskins player fell into Locklear’s right leg. His right knee appeared to buckle and ESPN cameras caught Locklear expressing serious pain from the injury. Locklear was then carted off to the locker room.

He was replaced by David Diehl at right tackle.

UPDATE 12:05 a.m. ET: New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed it was a knee injury for Locklear in his post-game press conference. “It’s a knee. It’s a knee,” Coughlin said in hushed tones. Coughlin didn’t elaborate on the severity but the tenor of his comments said it’s as serious as it looked.

His knee bent at an obscene, sideways angle that the human body was not designed for. It was brutal to watch.

Looks like a career ending injury… Hopefully not Hes a great player that can play anywhere on the OL.. Good luck to him on a speedy recovery

Sad to see him go down. He was just acknowledged for his versatile play. Hope that isn’t a career ending injury because I remember him playing for the team I follow for years and it was the same as he does for the Giants, move him anywhere on the o-line and he could hold up. Wishing Locklear strength on the recovery.

I’m glad Coughlin confirmed it was his knee. I thought it was his shoulder.

Gruesome injury. If you could imagine your right knee bending about 90 degrees to the side then you can feel what Locklear felt last night. Wild and obscene. Get well soon.
