The firing of Juan seemed unjustified. The firing of Washburn, way too late. Andy Reid has taken responsibility for every bad play call, every bad game, every bad hire. Now, it is time for Andy to fire himself. The wheels have been falling off this wagon for many months now. It has gone beyond ridiculous. it is completely embarrassing to the Organization.

well, juan was a fish out of water and was set up to fail. he was andy's guy, not a D guy, and putting him there likely created resentment. yet, this train probly would have derailed no matter who was there. that offense didnt put enough points on the board (even with castillo) or help the D out (and bowles sure needs help).

if the boss doesnt know much about the work topic, he really shouldnt be the boss.

and we dont know how castillo talked to washburn. for all we know it was a two way street of insults.

otoh, there is washburn. washburn set castillo up to fail, and the whole defense. the 9 wide leaves no one back to catch backs who get thru. philly run defense has never been a strong suit.

the 9 wide does allow for some good stats for pass rushers. hence, the great loyalty between washburn and "his people".

lets get past the insult aspect of it. people talk trash all the time.

Reid has lost control, obviously. Castillo was a questionable (at best) pick for coordinator, and you can understand the resentment Washburn felt. But, LMAO, this is very High Schoolish and shows how loose things have gotten in Philly.

Surprised Titans fan here. Jim Washburn was immensely respected by his team’s staff, players, and fans during his long tenure in Nashville. If he’s so difficult to work with, why was he such a good worker all those years for Jeff Fisher?

because Jeff Fisher had the Nashville media in his back pocket and would have never allowed anything negative to be printed about his coaching staff unless he wanted it that way...ie Washburn was categorized as "gruff" or "brash" or "colorful" instead of "petulant" or "condescending" or "jerk"...

I do not condone that mean spirited behavior, but the headline is funny and I am not surprised by Washburn doing this.

Washburn is like every coach in the NFL and everyone is competitive too. This is the relevance because name-calling is a form of intimidation and if you intimidate you get to have it your way. You will likely do this is you feel that your way is the only way that things can get done.

Plain and simple.

When Parcells coached the Patriots he used to mock Terry Glen the same way, in front of the team. Glen had great talent, but Parcells had no respect for him. That’s “old-school stuff” and doesn’t really sit well with our new sissified society.

well said.

Is or was this even an issue? It's after the fact stuff. I'd think if it was a real issue with JC he would have solved it then and there.

I don't think it has anything to do with a "sissified society." As an employer you simply cannot allow such activity to go on in your place of business. Except Terry Glenn was a player and NOT Bill Parcells' superior. "Old-school" coaches NEVER talked badly about those above them to those below them. "Old-school" coaches were about making sure the players knew who was in charge at all times. Washburn is NOT an "old-school" coach because he clearly didn't care if the players respected his boss or not.

Perhaps you should learn about "old-school stuff" before saying anything, then again, the inability to make proper analogies or comparisons is the standard in whatever society you think you're living in.

It’s a play on a guys name.
I don’t see the big deal."

@war27 clearly doesn't get it and has about as much of a clue about effective leadership as the 2012 version of Andy Reid (ie., none).

It's about undermining the leadership of another coach and solidarity. Imagine how effective an officer commanding his troops would be if a fellow officer started mocking him and his ability to lead his troops into battle in front of all the soldiers.

Oh, the poor guy. To think he was called such an offensive name while being paid millions… at least when people called me “Stephanie” I was making no money and wasn’t a grown man.
___________________________
The namecalling is just a manifestation of the larger issue which is Washburn's undermining another coach, who is technically his "boss" to the players. If he had problems with Castillo, he should have addressed them ...you know...WITH CASTILLO. Then with Reid. Then maybe he should have resigned if those two things didn't work to his satisfaction.

Also, why do people think that when one gets paid a lot of money, it means they don't deserve to be treated with respect? Money has nothing to do with it. At all.
