and we dont know how castillo talked to washburn. for all we know it was a two way street of insults.

otoh, there is washburn. washburn set castillo up to fail, and the whole defense. the 9 wide leaves no one back to catch backs who get thru. philly run defense has never been a strong suit.

the 9 wide does allow for some good stats for pass rushers. hence, the great loyalty between washburn and “his people”.

lets get past the insult aspect of it. people talk trash all the time.

because Jeff Fisher had the Nashville media in his back pocket and would have never allowed anything negative to be printed about his coaching staff unless he wanted it that way…ie Washburn was categorized as “gruff” or “brash” or “colorful” instead of “petulant” or “condescending” or “jerk”…

Washburn is like every coach in the NFL and everyone is competitive too. This is the relevance because name-calling is a form of intimidation and if you intimidate you get to have it your way. You will likely do this is you feel that your way is the only way that things can get done.

Plain and simple.

When Parcells coached the Patriots he used to mock Terry Glen the same way, in front of the team. Glen had great talent, but Parcells had no respect for him. That’s “old-school stuff” and doesn’t really sit well with our new sissified society.

@war27 clearly doesn’t get it and has about as much of a clue about effective leadership as the 2012 version of Andy Reid (ie., none).

It’s about undermining the leadership of another coach and solidarity. Imagine how effective an officer commanding his troops would be if a fellow officer started mocking him and his ability to lead his troops into battle in front of all the soldiers.

Also, why do people think that when one gets paid a lot of money, it means they don’t deserve to be treated with respect? Money has nothing to do with it. At all.
