After the Raiders loss on Sunday, coach Dennis Allen announced that he would be leaving the team until Wednesday to be with his ailing father.

He made it just in time to say his last goodbyes. The Raiders announced that Grady Allen died of cardiac arrest on Monday night at the age of 66 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.

The elder Allen was 66 years old and spent five seasons playing linebacker for the Falcons from 1968-1972. Before that, Grady Allen played for Texas A&M, an alma mater he shares with his son. Everyone at PFT sends their condolences to Dennis Allen and the entire Allen family on their loss.

In their statement announcing Grady Allen’s passing, the Raiders say that Allen still plans to return to Oakland on Wednesday night so that he can coach the team against the Broncos on Thursday night.
