I don’t know why all the hate for Castillo. With Castillo the Eagles were 3-1 while turning the ball over at an alarming rate. They haven’t won a single game since firing him and the defense has dropped to the bottom of the league. It was a risky move to bring a guy across the ball, but his defenses were starting to come into their own and really work, right up until he got the ax.
----------------------------

No, with Castillo the Eagles were 3-3. They had barely hung on in their 3 wins (won by a combined 4 points) and the defenses blew the Pittsburgh and Detroit games after the Eagles had led in the fourth quarter. During their losing streak last year, the Eagles had been giving up 4th quarter leads like candy. Castillo was clearly on a very short leash and when he blew 2 more late leads at the ends of games, Reid decided that the bye was the right time to move on.

Castillo was a poor choice doing the best he could in an awful situation. Reid made a justified gamble pulling the trigger and switching to Bowles as a coordinator; in hindsight he lost that gamble, mostly because the defensive unit is just poorly constructed. I don't think they win any of these recent games with Castillo as coordinator either, as bad as Bowles's unit has looked.

Even if Reid's let go, Roseman has to follow him out the door. No coach will even want to succeed after Reid if Roseman's to stay as GM. Why?
So the wide nine was "disastrous" but the eagle led the league in sacks last year? I don't remember any of those sorry linebackers or DBS getting any so it was the all dline. Am I the only person not blind enough to see that the only good piece on our defense was our dline. We have one of the worst secondaries in the league despite there high profiled names. Neither Coleman or Nate Allen would make any other roster in the league yet they starting for the eagles. Roseman is not to blame for the eagles passing up all those players in free agency and sorry draft picking when they have 21mil to spend in cap space. All football related personal were Reid's decisions. Reid basically going down and taking the whole organization down with him. Why nobody talking about why mortywing not fired yet after 3straight seasons with out having one decent goaline play to score? Y'all guys ridiculous

As far as the surprise that the Eagles aren't having success with the "Dream Team", you think the lesson of the Fortune 500 Redskins would have been enough to drive home the lesson that you can't just buy a bunch of free agents and win.

I love the eagles fans who are now saying how bad it was that they signed all of these players and how this was so out of character. This is what every fan in philly has been begging for. spend the money go big in FA. These are the same people saying good riddance to vick, who after the washington game 2 years ago were ready to send him to canton. fraudulent front running fans. the worst in the nfl and pretty much all of the major sports, but let's just focus on football for right now.

Andy Reid is coming back to the Eagles I'm almost positive it's happening at this point.

All these moves are being made to Lurie can sell that the Eagles have made "changes" without firing big Red himself. I don't think Reid should come back but I think every Eagles fan is getting a sick feeling in their stomachs right now.

Plus Lurie said 8-8 was unacceptable he never said anything about 7-9 or 3-13. Loophole.

This is kind of a ridiculous story. If Andy didn't want Wash, he never would've hired him. Remember, getting Wash was part of bringing Mudd into the fold, which was necessary for Juan to move over to the D side.
Wow. I've always been a Reid supporter, but you guys are falling for this. Everything that's come out and is going to come out is an atempt to save Reid's job. Reid will still act the same in his press conferences, but he will slowly try to make it seem like nothing was his fault through these reports and sources. Has it really devolved to a he said, she said game? I'm sure both people played a role in the hiring.

Roseman is a horrible GM. Just because you learned the ropes from Joe Banner doesn't mean you have the same eye for talent or same business savvy.

Eagles never signed or resigned any players over 30 years of age while Banner was at the helm. Although Banner never made a huge splash in free agency or even the draft, he got players with heart and determination.

Howie Roseman on the other hand has crippled this team with his signings and drafts in a mere 2 years.

Here's Roseman's Resume of Players so far:

Signed Asomugha (he's done nothing)
Traded for DRC (he's done nothing)
Traded Asante to ATL (he's playing very well)
Drafted Danny Watkins (this guy just sucks)
Drafted Casey Matthews (this guy just sucks)
Drafted Jaquan Jarrett (this guy was cut already)
Hired Jim Washburn (wide 9 is awful and gone)
Signed Jason Babin (this guy cant tackle)
and so on........

The story is very believable. Why else would Andy have made Juan the devensive coordinator? No one else wanted the job, if the line coach was hand picked by the GM. I think Jeff Lurie knows the truth and may let Andy stay next year, especially if Foles continues to show progress and Bryce Brown learns how to hold on to the ball. Maybe Joe Banner and Tom Heckert weren't so bad after all.

The whole Eagles organization is completely dysfunctional. There is no scenario where it makes a lick of sense to bring any coaching or front office staff members back next year. Reid's regime has fallen apart, Roseman is not a football man and has no credibility at this point. If Lurie can't see that, he had better get used to Eagles fans dressing up as empty seats.

And this is why the "fire Reid" mantra is flawed on its face. Firinig Reid without firing Roseman will lead to no changes. Firing Roseman without firing Reid might actually make things better, though there's nowhere to go but up from here. I just don't see them pulling any interest in their head coaching position unless Roseman goes, and he just got a contract extension this summer. For that reason, I think they both end up staying for another year, for better or worse.

If true it further fuels the fire of the fan base that already wants Roseman run out of town along with Reid. That ridiculous wide 9 has been hated by the fans since day 1.

I can help but wonder, however, if this news is put out by the Reid camp as a way to deflect blame for the Washburn hiring.

Pretty soon we're going to hear that Andy was nothing but an innocent bystander. Juan Castillo was hired over to the defensive side over his strenous objections, etc.

Andy was the architect of this trainwreck, from coaching staff to players to gameplanning.

Roseman is screwing up the Eagles from top to bottom, and Reid isn't helping. It was so out-of-character for the Eagles to sign all those high-priced free agents last year, coupled with some bad drafts, and we now have little chemistry and talent on the field. Roseman was and is playing fantasy football with an actual NFL roster. What's worse, Roseman was given a five year extension this season amidst this losing streak!!
