The fact is Ponder can’t throw. Musgrave doesn’t have a whole lot of options when his QB can’t throw the ball. His receivers are very average but he isn’t hitting the windows he is supposed to. He throws late, high, and without velocity. I don’t care if he’s a smart guy, his football IQ is low. No pocket awareness at all. He has regressed, period. Throwing a five yard pass and having Harvin turn it into a big play helped to mask his inefficiency. He was never first round worthy and the Vikes will be dragged down by him through Peterson’s prime.

Oh, and I’m a Packer fan. I miss the rivalry games being unpredictable.
-------------------

Dude, I'm calling you out on this. Ponder is not TJoke. Ponder had an above average NFL arm. Ponder is mobile. Ponder throws accurately. And most importanty, he is a good decision maker. Right now he is simply plagued by the fact that he's effectively a red shirt rookie with absolutely nobody to throw the football to, other than his TEs. I don't care how good a QB is, if they don't have recievers who get open, they will not be successful.

Speilman has only had full control of the roster for one draft. He added Matt Kalil, Harrison Smith, Josh Robinson, Rhett Ellison, Jarious Wright, and Blair Walsh who all look like real players. His draft was great.

He bought himself some more time, IMO.

That's a fair point to make, but Speilman is also responsible for signing Jon Carlson and Cheech Simpson, which were horrible signings. Ponder is also Speilman's guy, which is almost reason enough to fire him...

The thing I don't get is how hard people are being on Ponder right now. Currently he has nobody at WR who should be starting for an NFL team, other than may a rookie 4th round pick in Jarius Wright. Harvin has been hurt all year and Ponder is essentially red-shirt rookie this year who has half the receiving talent of other rookie and second year guys around the league.

Did people forget that just last season the Vikings had their worst year in franchise history? Without Harvin, Ponder and the Vikings offense lose a powerful weapon and are relegated to once again overusing Adrian Petersonand trying to force the ball in to receivers who aren't getting any seperation.

In other words, this team needs receivers like the refs need a clue.
