Rex and Mr.T have mismanaged the QB position.

Allowing Sanchez to sit could have benefited the Entitled Sanchez some value. He can win the same or more with McElroy. Rex must go. Proved he doesn’t have a clue.

Fans will be calling for his job in two weeks.

I don’t think they’re tied either. Rex has proven, if given the right roster, he can coach a team deep in to the playoffs consistently. That Bum they have for a GM is who Woody needs to fire, along with Woody keeping his nose out of who they sign. Merchandise should not be a driving factor in who gets signed and who doesn’t.

Let’s look at Ryan’s time as coach. In 2010 , the Jets spent alot of money and draft picks to get their team put together. They did not have a great regular season and were lucky to back into the playoffs as Indy rested Peyton Manning and other starters. Once in the post-season, their defense played like a top 5 defense and their running game had favourable matchups, taking them to the championship game, with Sanchez holding down the fort. They ran into those same Colts and were not able to matchup with them. In 2011, they had their best year as everything fell together, allowing them to once again make the Championship game, but losing to a far superior team that year, the Steelers. Neither year did they even win their own division. In 2012, the season ended in disaster, with Holmes sulking on the sidelines, not wanting to play with Sanchez. This year has been worse, albeit marred with injuries. Take away all the negative (or positive, depending on your view) locker room/media stuff, and do you want him as your coach?

I’m not sure Rex Ryan should be fired, he’s not a terrible head coach (really good DC), he’s just probably too trusting. However, Sanchez needs to ride the pine until his contract is over, Tannenbaum needs to go, Sparano needs to go, Cavanaugh(QB coach) needs to go. I think Westhoff and Ryan should get a year or two to try and turn the Franchise around.

Sure, Rex has two AFC Championships. He also will still have an overall winning record after this season. Of course, up until this season, every year he promised a Super Bowl championship and has yet to deliver. Name me one other coach who publicly says his team will win the championship every year. (Okay, so you obviously want a coach who believes that and no coach says they’re aiming for 8-8, but most coaches are smart enough not to make bold promises publicly.) It’s called managing expectations.

If I’m Woody Johnson, I see Rex as a coach who has failed to deliver on his own boisterous promises and, in fact, regressed. It isn’t about those two AFC title games or the winning record, it’s about expectations which, based on what Rex has said over the years, have clearly not been met.

You people who think Rex will be fired are freaking nuts. Ok, Eric Mangini was fired after missing the playoffs, but keep in mind he had NEVER made the playoffs, and so they gave up on him after three seasons. Rex has taken his team to the AFC Championship twice with Mark Sanchez running the team.

The ONLY way Rex will be fired is if Mike Tannenbaum is canned and the new GM wants his own guy. But I doubt that happens.

What is amazing is that as big of a circus and a joke the jets are this year, they have a legitimate shot at finishing 9-7 or 8-8. If they win out they could get into last wild card w some help. No revis, no Holmes, horrendous qb play and inconsistent at best running game with underachieving defense and still could be .500 or better makes me think Rex has actually done a good job this year considering

Sanchez is a coach killer. He should not be throwing the types of interceptions he does. That says he isn’t learning how to read a defense. Unfortunately for Rex he is the best QB on the roster so Rex has to go with him. The argument now should be whether Rex should be fired for not developing Sanchez or keep Rex and move on from Sanchez. Either way the GM has to go because that team has no talent.

Blah blah blah…their biggest problem is Tannenbaum and his dopey contracts. They can’t get rid of Sanchez OR Holmes because of guarantees and how tight they are to the cap. Add the whole Revis contract drama and Tanny just has to go.

Now, most people would think the won-loss record is tied to his QB, but Rex is too smart to be hemmed in by that simple thought, right?
