Just because something is strong doesn’t mean it is the safest material for helmets and other equipment. If anything, the Kevlar may weaponize a helmet or give a false sense of security.

In Hockey, harder elbow pads have simply resulted in many more concussions from elbows to the head.

Tradtional Kevlar is not hard, it is a fabric. When it is hit by a object it absorbs the energy and sends it in all directions away from where the impact was made. So it is far from a weapon!

first let me say I am neither a fan of steelers or ravens but I have to say something. I think both teams are first class. Both are great and have great personal and players and some of their games are the best rivalries. I cannot believe this ravenator guy! seriously dude are you 13 years old? I think you might not be and I believe you are a true fan of the ravens which is great but come on its fine to root for your team but you rag on the steelers and make statements that are just insane. I challenge you to have some class for once and root for your ravens and hope they go all the way but respect the steelers cause they are a great organization as is the ravens and realize they have some great players and great fans

I find it humorous how Ben is always labeled “fat,” while cam newton Carson Palmer and josh freeman are just about identical in height/weight and are NEVER mentioned in these discussions. Amazing how winning two Super Bowls can label people differently!

The Ravens lost to the hapless iggles, Charlie freaking Batch @home and got dismantled by The Texans. You’d have another loss and a sweep handed to you if Ben plays in that first game, and you know it.

I doubt the use of a special Kevlar layer to protect Roethlisberger’s shoulder and clavicle is going to result in more concussions … unless guys are going for his shoulder and clavicle with the crown of their helmets. Players should use more lightweight body armor to protect their ribs and their thighs prior to injury.
