The Chargers used the new injured reserve/designated for return list for wide receiver Vincent Brown, but it doesn’t appear he’s going to.
Brown told Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego the chances of him returning from his broken ankle in the next four weeks were not good.
“Most likely not,” Brown said. “I’ll probably be chilling. Just keep pushing through rehab, and we’ll see.”
Brown hasn’t started practicing yet, since breaking his ankle in an Aug. 18 preseason game. He has started to run and cut on the ankle, turning the rehab up a notch.
His absence has been noticeable for an offense that could use any degree of deep threat, or any kind of threat really. But he said the year hasn’t been a waste.
“Whenever you’re not able to play and perform, you sit back and you’re able to watch and try to slow the game down as much as you can,” Brown said. “Just being in meetings, further learning the offense — I’ve seen a lot more this season, and I can take that into next year when I’m back.”
I’m sure the new coach with the new system will appreciate that.
