Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson has experienced another health scare.
Patterson is currently in the hospital with viral pneumonia, Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters today.
The pneumonia is not related to Patterson’s cerebral arteriovenous malformation, the condition that caused him to have brain surgery in January. Patterson was out of action for several months after that surgery but was activated in November and has played in the Eagles’ last five games.
The Eagles have confirmed that Patterson will not play on Sunday, but there’s no word on how much longer he might be out.
