Vikings running back Adrian Peterson needs 400 yards in three games to get to 2,000 for the season.
He wants at least 506.
With that amount, he’d break the single-season rushing record set by Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson in 1984. Dickerson rushed for 2,105 yards in a 16-game season.
Peterson told Peter King of Sports Illustrated after Sunday’s 21-14 win over the Bears that Peterson is targeting Dickerson’s record.
Peterson will get a chance in seven days to take a chunk out of the remaining gap against the team for which Dickerson played when he set the record -- the Rams.
