Much to the chagrin of the AFC Pro Bowl team, Cam Newton looked like a big deal Sunday.
The Panthers quarterback, who is still getting ripped for his personality, put on a show in a 30-20 win over the Falcons.
Newton finished with 287 yards passing and another 116 rushing, accounting for three touchdowns.
Over his last six games, Newton has accounted for 15 touchdowns and two turnovers, 11 touchdowns and no turnovers in his last four games.
The Panthers (4-9) went up 23-0 in the third quarter on an amazing 72-yard touchdown run by Newton, but being a Panthers-Falcons game, it was far from over.
The Falcons cut it to 23-13 (including a failed two-point conversion), but the Panthers iced it with a 53-yard catch-and-run by DeAngelo Williams.
The Panthers controlled the clock throughout the day, and even with a patchwork secondary (they were using their fourth and fifth safeties for most of the day), they were able to hand the Falcons just their second loss of the season.
