Redskins take down Ravens in overtime, 31-28

Forbath

Two weeks ago, the Ravens didn’t look like a 9-2 team. They now look a lot like a 9-4 team.

The Redskins defeated the Ravens in overtime, 31-28.

The win came after a knee injury to quarterback Robert Griffin III opened the door for rookie Kirk Cousins to lead the Redskins to a game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion.

The Ravens got the ball to start overtime, but the Redskins forced a three-and-out. Rookie Richard Crawford returned the punt 64 yards, foolishly trying to make a move on punter Sam Koch in lieu of continuing to run. Three plays later, kicker Kai Forbath made his third field goal of the day, a 34-yarder to secure the win.

The Redskins are now 7-6, tied with the Vikings, Cowboys, and Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card chase. Washington and Dallas are also one-half game behind the Giants at the top of the NFC East.

The Ravens remain atop the AFC North by two games, given that both the Bengals and Steelers lost on Sunday.
