Report: Jones, Ratliff had heated exchange after win over Eagles

As the Cowboys wait for nose tackle Jay Ratliff to return from a groin injury, a new report indicates that Ratliff and owner Jerry Jones recently engaged in a locker-room altercation.

According to Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Ratliff and Jones had a heated exchange after last Sunday night’s win over the Eagles.

Ratliff has missed seven games this year with various injuries and the last three with a strained groin.  Jones said to Ratliff after the Eagles win, “We need you.”

Ratliff responded angrily, resulting in a “volcanic” confrontation that included a jaw-to-jaw argument.  “They’re both passionate men and great men and they want to win, that’s all it is,’’ one source told Fisher. “But they were in each other’s faces. People had to intervene.”

According to Fisher, Ratliff physically challenged Jones and made “derisive” reference to his age.

First Jones is locked out of his own team’s locker room (as in HIS own team, as in he owns them) then he’s confronted like this? While I’m a Skins fan and don’t agree with hardly anything Jones has done these folks better remind who signs their paychecks. There are things you do and things you don’t say to the people responsible for you taking the bacon home. Regardless of the way you feel.

Too bad you’ll never hear about Garrett doing the same thing.

  3. mrbigass says: Dec 9, 2012 6:31 PM

When the owner is personally pleading with a guy to play through his injuries it smacks of desperation……..

  4. fitzmagic1212 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:31 PM

    only the cowboys

  5. mrcogburn says: Dec 9, 2012 6:33 PM

So, Jerry Jones is not embalmed after all.

  6. kilo0986 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:36 PM

Just goes to show how much people actually respect jerry

  7. logicalvoicesays says: Dec 9, 2012 6:37 PM

The Cowboys are decending while the Redskins are ascending. This is the America I love.

  8. Sandra Lee's Cans says: Dec 9, 2012 6:39 PM

I would have loved to see Ratliff slap the plastic out of Jerruh’s face.

  9. vbe2 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:39 PM

Not smart to do that to the man that signs your paycheck.

  10. surly1n1nd1anapol1s says: Dec 9, 2012 6:40 PM

Hard to support Jerry nearly ever but a player can’t do that and stay.

  11. enrifer says: Dec 9, 2012 6:42 PM

Ratliff is a punk, respect elderly people especially if that person is your boss all he had to say is he wasn’t ready to play.

  12. jpb12 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:42 PM

Won’t be long before Jerrah decides to coach

  13. dumbasdirt says: Dec 9, 2012 6:44 PM

Before the 2013 Draft Ratliff will be traded to either Kansas City, Jacksonville, or Cleveland for a 6th or 7th round draft pick.
Hell hath no fury like Jerry Jones who has been scorned.

  14. thesmartest1 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:47 PM

Whoa big guy! That would have been so manly of you to whip up on the old man. Ridiculous…

  15. doe22us says: Dec 9, 2012 6:48 PM

Either Jay Ratliff is the biggest dumb a$$ in America or he has some balls, either way not a good look there. I get that Jerrah is a meddlesome owner, but you dont bite the hand that feeds you lol.

  16. randygnyc says: Dec 9, 2012 6:48 PM

From this report, I can’t believe how disrespectful Ratliff was. Who the hell does he think he is? Have some respect for your boss, who is an older man. I don’t care what you think of Jerry Jones. If you take his money, have some respect.

  17. joetoronto says: Dec 9, 2012 6:54 PM

Jerrah proves once again that he’s an idiot, that was a slap in the face to Ratliff.

  18. BeachBum46 says: Dec 9, 2012 6:56 PM

Jones is right they do need him, the Cowboys defense is horrible. With Ratliff playing they’re a little less horrible.

  19. dannyreneau says: Dec 9, 2012 6:57 PM

A cowboy challenging a 70 year old man? He might have a chance at winning that one.

  20. csilojohnson says: Dec 9, 2012 6:58 PM

    Yes “great” men…

  21. edhochuli says: Dec 9, 2012 6:59 PM

They should’ve all mobbed Jerry in there after this. I picture the ending to District 9 where the Prawns tear the soldier apart.

when did jerry obtaiin any kind of medical degree. Hes not a doctor but he plays one in the locker room

  23. jrfrom508 says: Dec 9, 2012 7:04 PM

Hearing things like this makes me so happy I’m a patriots fan. But most fans of the other nfl teams must be thrilled as well to not have Jones as a GM. He is just awful.

  24. thecrazyasianinseccountry says: Dec 9, 2012 7:11 PM

You don’t have to respect the person, but you do have to respect the position.

  25. wttoolman says: Dec 9, 2012 7:13 PM

Wow!! Is it true DeMarco Murray was injured 7 weeks ago, too??

  26. EJ says: Dec 9, 2012 7:18 PM

If I owned a football team and a player talked down to me, he would be released immediately.
I would tell security to dump his locker and escort the fool off of my property.

Jones is an idiot. He’s been holding back his own team for years. He needs to realize he’s not really a football guy and shut up.

  29. drewsylvania says: Dec 9, 2012 7:32 PM

I bet the Skins have already called.

None are as bad as those who cheat. Cheating means that you know you can’t get the job done without an unfair advantage. It’s not a coincidence that the Patriots haven’t won a Super Bowl since they got busted.

  31. ghjjf says: Dec 9, 2012 7:51 PM

Jerry Jones has no business being in the lockeroom, he is not and never will be a football guy.

  32. bluebongzilla says: Dec 9, 2012 7:55 PM

hmmm yeah, lose starting NT and the 2nd stringer, both starting inside LBs and a 2nd stringer and a starting safety and your defense might look a little ragged! That said, they’re just one game out of first place and if they pull even with the Giants, guess who owns the tiebreaker? That’s right, the Cowboys, by virtue of division record.

  33. bluebongzilla says: Dec 9, 2012 7:57 PM

If being the captain of a college national champion and having almost 25 years of NFL front office experience doesn’t make you a football guy, there are no football guys.

  34. flipadelphia77777 says: Dec 9, 2012 8:12 PM

How in the world can you respect Jerry Jones. Good job Ratliff… You did what many people want to do themselves

  35. pksullivanmph says: Dec 9, 2012 8:37 PM

Lord I hope Jeraha didn’t mock any bodies age!!!!! He of facelift fame. @footballady52. 🏉

  36. dankpuffalot says: Dec 9, 2012 9:45 PM

Did you really use this as a shot at Patriots? You are right, they haven’t won a SB but at least they have had the chance to play in two. Dallas is a joke but not nearly as much as their delusional fans.

  37. wyrdawg says: Dec 9, 2012 9:55 PM

Dang. GM/VP/VIP getting all puffy now?

    Sorry Cowboys fans.

  38. robertallen1958 says: Dec 9, 2012 11:23 PM

say all you want about Jerry, i agree, BUT i think Ratt should have some respect, Jay has been on the trainers room all season, guys like Whitten and Romo and Alot of guys playing hurt, listen, these guys are getting paid very well and to play hurt, its the NFL, not college or high school, also there is a long line of entitlement that the coaches have been dealing with in that locker room, and by the looks of it there are a few left, as a fan i will tell him to we need him and if i own the team and i am a billionaire and i pay you and you get in my face? well how does Jacksonville sound? and i will tell you i am going to send you to a team thats gonna be a loser for years! what i think is Ratt knows there is going to be no playoffs and at his age he doesn’t want to waste his body aand in doing so he is cheating his teaam

  39. bluebongzilla says: Dec 9, 2012 11:48 PM

“Dallas is a joke but not nearly as much as their delusional fans.”

Oh please. There were no Patriots fans before 2001. Before Belichick decided he needed to cheat to be successful in the NFL, the Patriots were the laughingstocks of the NFL. They go on a little mini streak of 12 winning seasons in a row in one of the worst divisions in the NFL and all of a sudden you want to talk ish. Well you’re still 8 seasons behind the Cowboys’ record 20 in a row, buddy. And that was accomplished in a REAL division in the dominant conference. Now that you mention it the Patriots are a couple of Super Bowl wins behind the Cowboys, too. And their most recent win isn’t much newer than the Cowboys’ most recent win.

At the end of the day, they are both men. There are many things that get said that should be handled differently.

Jones has proved to be meddlesome. Consistent lack of good leadership.

Boss or no boss. There are some things you just don’t do to another man.

  41. commonsensedude says: Dec 10, 2012 12:26 AM

My respect for Jerry Jones will increase just a notch if he cuts this dude right away. I really can’t stand Jones but players can’t talk to owners that way.

You’re obviously too much of a moron to realize how stupid your anti-Patriot’s posts are.

First, the Patriots have the highest winning percentage over the last five years than any other team, over .700

Have they won a Super Bowl? No, but they’ve been to TWO, and they’ve won more games than any other team.

Second, you’re really showing your ignorance. The Patriots had a couple of rough seasons along the way – what team doesn’t? – but they were a strong team in the 60’s, a blown call away from the Super Bowl in the ’70s, when they had some damn good teams. They went to a Super Bowl in the ’80s, and the ’90s…..

So tell us again, exactly when did this team totally suck??? A year or two here and there????

  43. tigrrrr says: Dec 10, 2012 2:17 PM

jerrah thinks who he is.. ratliff set him straight!

  44. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Dec 10, 2012 7:38 PM

I don’t often find myself on Jerry’s side but Hey Ratliff it’s the NFL and you got to suck it up for your team. Who needs players that aren’t available to play? If you’re injured, you can’t play but guys have to play hurt all the time. That’s just football.
