The Dolphins have lost three of their last four games and they’ve failed to throw for more than 176 yards in any of those games, so they made a change to their receiving corps on Monday.

Miami has been awarded wide receiver Armon Binns off of waivers from the Bengals. Binns started five of the first six games for Cincinnati this season, but played in only two of the next six as the team shuffled up the depth chart. Binns, who joined the Bengals practice squad last year after failing to make the Jaguars in camp, wound up his Bengals tenure with 18 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown before being waived off the roster to make room for center Kyle Cook’s return from injured reserve.

Davone Bess and Brian Hartline hold the top two spots at receiver for Miami, but no other wide receivers have more than four catches for the Dolphins this season. Binns might not be able to produce much in a new offense this late in the season, but he might show the coaches enough to convince them to give him a longer look heading into 2013.

The Dolphins released cornerback Michael Coe to make room for Binns on the roster.
