Report: Jets may bring back Braylon Edwards

The Seahawks are done with receiver Braylon Edwards.  Another team that was believed to be done with Braylon Edwards may not be.

Yes, the “idiots calling the shots” with the Jets could be dialing up Edwards, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Edwards officially was waived from injured reserve on Monday, which will give the Jets and every other team a chance to claim him on waivers.  The Jets, per Schefter, could indeed claim Edwards or try to sign him if he clears waivers.

With the Jets suddenly in unexpected position to steal a playoff spot, thanks to losses on Sunday by the Bengals and Steelers, and with receiver Stephen Hill suffering a knee injury against the Jaguars, the Jets have a need — and Edwards could be the one to fill it.

Edwards later apologized for the “idiots” comment, which may be good enough for the Jets.  Especially since they have a clear and significant requirement at the position Edwards plays.

He needs to be reunited with Romeo and Brady Quinn. KC is in need of a reciever with Bowe out.

I own a business. I wouldn’t take back someone I fired who then called me an idiot. Foolish. Laughing stock of the league.

Here’s how the Edwards deal came to pass…
Tannenbaum noticed someone outside the JETS practice facility Tebowing; but the person had obviously deformed hands.
He immediately knew the guy would be a better receiver than any current JET. He asked Rex what he thought. After looking at the guy Rex said ‘ he has no hands’! But his feet look great! Sign him up!

Better make sure he isn’t getting arrested somewhere first.

  11. jbwhale says: Dec 10, 2012 9:14 PM

They haven’t had a deep threat since they parted ways after ’10 season. Why not give it another shot… Nothing to loose.

Please do not take back a selfish player who put himself above his Jets teammates with a DUI. Being released by the 49ers and SeaHawks means he is not the same player he was in 2009/2010 plus a knee injury.

I’m a Browns fan. The Jets are what the Browns were. A joke. Two teams going in opposite directions. They need a QB. Period.

    Perfect match.

  18. rob0527 says: Dec 10, 2012 10:37 PM

A little late. Should have signed him weekend ago, however he will help and be good addition. He will know that his career is almost over and will be on best behavior.

  19. brownsclown says: Dec 10, 2012 10:45 PM

Here’s the deal. Edwards can’t catch the football but he was Tebowing in front of the JETS practice facility. That won over Tannenbaum, who asked Rex’s opinion. Rex said he has terrible hands but great feet–sign him up!

  20. nyjets1017 says: Dec 10, 2012 10:49 PM

They should of never let him go to begin with. He was a good security blanket for Sanchez.

  21. joenash72 says: Dec 10, 2012 10:56 PM

Tannenbaum must figure that he can claim Braylon Edwards off of waivers, then suspend him a la Brandon Jacobs?

Brilliant! (for a bunch of idiots…)

  22. bx1018 says: Dec 10, 2012 11:06 PM

For the first time in his career, Braylon might be able to drop the “I told you so” line.

  23. tinbender2000 says: Dec 10, 2012 11:33 PM

Edwards later apologized: “I’m sorry they have idiots calling the shots.”

  24. nflsucker says: Dec 10, 2012 11:38 PM

This would be one of the worst personnel decisions of the year, if the Jets hadn’t already made even worse ones that helped create their dire need.

Next year: Blow up the toast and start from scratch. Or, another laughable season.

  25. peepeetoucher says: Dec 11, 2012 12:23 AM

He can’t be any worse than Chaz Schilens, Mardy Gilyard and that all pro Clyde Gates. Whats another underachiever going to matter?

  26. omegalh says: Dec 11, 2012 1:01 AM

Sanchez and he did have some chemistry on the field. He’s regressed too much though.

  27. xsfmed says: Dec 11, 2012 2:12 AM

HA! And who will throw to him? Go ahead Rex, just keep on rearranging those chairs on the sinking ship…

  28. zombiebuddha says: Dec 11, 2012 2:51 AM

The Jets are only signing Edwards so they can suspend him for the final three games of the season for running his mouth.

  29. cronybomb says: Dec 11, 2012 8:20 AM

Well I guess Braylon was right..

  30. canesgiants says: Dec 11, 2012 9:51 AM

with their schedule the jets might have t o be the fav for one fo the wildcard spots

  31. themackstrong says: Dec 11, 2012 1:10 PM

Edwards couldn’t beat teams nickel CB’s and dropped nearly everything thrown his way including a game winner. He can sure tweet a bunch after big games though.
