I find this very interesting. I was against the Browns using 3 or more first round draft picks for RGIII. No player is worth 3 first round picks, as the risk to too great. That being said, shanahan is taking a huge risk putting his QB on the field this Sunday. If he’s slowed by his injury and kept in the pocket, the Browns DL will play the ‘meet you at the QB’ game all day. The Browns are currently 7th in the league with 34 sacks, and the DL is playing well. If RGIII isn’t mobile, it might be a very long day for skins fans.

I hope RGIII can learn from this like he did the concussion he got vs Atlanta.

Right on the money with Cousins. He will get most of the snaps in practice. Should he be called on, hopefully he would do better then he did against Atlanta.

Secondly for all you guys touting the Browns as the next great thing, time out, they have improved and I do like them and it is a shame the coach is deadman walking but come on, they have a three game winning streak against the Charlie Batch lead Steelers, Oakland and KC. Should be a good game but one the Skins should be favored to win.

If I’m not mistaken, he got injured on a sack. It’s not like he was sprinting in the open field and had the opportunity to slide to avoid a hit. Actually, since that concussion, he’s done a really good job of avoiding hits. The only time I’ve seen him take a hit is when he’s close to the first down marker and is trying to fight for it (there were two or three such instances against the Ravens).

That said, quarterbacks of this ilk are tough to manage because a big part of what makes them so special is also going to put them at risk of injury.

No, he was injured sprinting down the field, although to his credit, it was 2nd and 19 with a man defense, the perfect down for a quarterback draw, and he was trying to slide/get out of bounds when he was hit. Additionally, you are entirely correct that, since the Atlanta game, he has been doing a stellar job sliding, stepping out, and avoiding big hits. Even on the hit yesterday, he did manage to get airborne at the last second, which almost certainly saved him from serious knee damage. Point is, while no one wants Griffin to get hurt, he’s a smart kid and understands how to keep himself healthy, how important his health is to his team, and will certainly be doing an even better job protecting himself in the future, despite his risky playing style.

I think Robert Griffin III has the best arm in the NFL. He has a quick, buggy whip motion that makes the ball come out of his hand with the spin-rate of a compressed 9 iron. Skins don’t need the wildcat to win; Robert Griffin III could win in the run-and-shoot offense that Warren Moon use to run. Or any other offense they choose to put him in.

It must kill you that he’s the #1 rated QB in the league and is beating SB contenders while Luck is at the bottom of the league statwise even though he’s facing the easiest schedule in the NFL.

And so continues the story of another “mobile” NFL QB that will have his career cut short or limited by injury. This is why mobile QBs never make it in the NFL…this isn’t college, the beating NFL players take is only meant for 300 pound men to endure over the length of a 10 year career. Even RBs rarely see that length of career with the beatings they take. QBs? Forget about it.

He had ZERO designed runs yesterday. All his runs were scrambles. It’s football. Guys get hurt everywhere. Brady, Palmer etc. blew out their knees in the pocket. Just as dangerous back there. In the open field, at least you can see most things coming.

BTW, this “mobile QB” is #1 in the NFL in QB rating 13 games into his career. Keep thinking he’s not a pocket passer.

Trust me, unless there are setbacks this week, he’s going to play.

That being said, the Browns aren’t a bad team on defense. They got some guys that can fly around and make plays. Outside the Giants game they have played everyone tough. The Skins could probably still one without RG3 but it will be a challenage for them.
