APIf this isn’t incentive for Robbie Gould to get well, I’m not sure what would be.
According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, veteran kicker Olindo Mare won this morning’s tryout, and may get a contract from the Bears later.
They brought in Billy Cundiff and Neil Rackers as well, but haven’t made a final decision.
Gould was limited to extra points last week after a pre-game calf strain, although he said he expected to be fine this week against the Packers.

Good Lord, no to Mare. He was horrible in Carolina.
my first thought was that he’d already won a game for the bears…when he played for carolina in 2011.
Umm don’t know where you guys are getting your source but chicagobears.com reported they put Robbie Gould, Craig Steltz and Sherrick McManis on injured reserve
Seems like Chicago has much bigger problems than a kicker to worry about. Gould is probably the closest they have to an MVP.
Next man up!
Bears just announced Gould has been placed on IR (along with Craig Steltz).
Not good….
Wow, done deal, Bears sign Mare and put Gould in IR. this season is falling apart almost as fast as last season.
Even though he has spent his career kicking outside in Chicago Gould is the third most accurate kicker in NFL history. I think his job is safe. Especially from a crappy kicker like Mare
The Bears just got a little worse cuz Linda Mary is flat out AWFUL!!!!!!
Mare was lights out with Seattle in his years there. Whether it be the turf out in Carolina, or whatever, was nowhere near the same.
Or, this was a plan 2 years in motion from having Mare sabotage Chicago when they play Seattle in few weeks again. His last game for Seattle was the tough divisional round game there where the game ended up closer than it looked.
Does not look good. At least Cundiff can still kick touchbacks. And what was wrong with Nate Kaeding? He’s accurate and I think is still available
Mare is a tool, plus he can’t kick…This just gets better and better.
