APThe 49ers had already suspended disgruntled running back Brandon Jacobs, now they’re in the process of erasing him from the record.
They’ve already given his locker to just-signed linebacker Eric Bakhtiari, taking away a reminder that he was ever there.
As you might expect, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh tried to not talk about it much. Asked if the suspension was for conduct detrimental to the team, Harbaugh replied.
“Uh, Yes, . . . well, let me stay away from categorizing it,” Harbaugh said, via CSNBayArea.com. ”The league has a process when you suspend a player that there’s a process that you go through. So you’re really not in a position to be talking about that.”
Others, who aren’t as concerned with perpetuating a bunch of jive turkey gobble, admitted what was obvious when Jacobs began griping about the team on social media sites.
“From the coaching standpoint, they don’t want any distractions on the team. He was being a distraction, they felt he was being a distraction, so they felt they needed to do something about it,” defensive lineman Ray McDonald said. “I guess, if he’s not about the team. And the coaches feel that he’s not trying to help the team. They made the right decision.”
When you’re 9-3-1 and heading to the playoffs, disgruntled non-contributors aren’t going to get the benefit of the doubt from too many teammates, or any coaches.

Jacobs can complain all he wants, the fact of the matter is he was the 5th best RB on the 9ers and he is the one that signed the contract.
I hope he wins his appeal and they are forced to submit him to waivers so that the Giants can get him back.
My guess is he returns for the playoffs and is available for them at just the right time.
All will be forgotten sooner or later.
They should trade him to the Colts who need a RB badly.
“You gotta feel for Brandon Jacobs” – said no one ever.
Why sign the guy and then not use him at all? Everyone knows Jacobs will pout like a baby if he doesn’t play.
Giants don’t need him. Bradshaw,
Andre Brown, David Wilson…
Wow, it’s a shock that the disgruntled giant left to go to another team to be backup and became disgruntled.

If only there wasn’t a league wide trade deadline… but surely you already knew that and meant after the start of the new football year in 2013… surely…
Keep burning those bridges Brandon.
Giants can use him. Bradshaw is playing hurt and Wilson is all we have left. Andre Brown broke his leg and is on IR once again. Jacobs knows the system and can provide much needed depth
Couldn’t of happen to a nicer guy. Happy Holidays Bran”done”.
When has this guy ever been gruntled?
Niners are gonna implode. Kaepernick is going to play like a young QB, Seahawks will win the NFC West, while the Niners go one and done on the road in the playoffs

I don’t think he knew that, and stop calling him Shirley.
My Colts have Mewelde Moore. Why would they need Brandon Jacobs? Oh yeah. Because they have Mewelde Moore. Seriously though folks: They aren’t in such desperate need of a running back that they would consider Jacobs. I hope.
I see it as, they are suspending him instead of cutting him outright because they don’t want a competitor (like the Giants) getting him off waivers and using him in the playoffs.
That’s the only thing that comes to mind as to why they just didn’t kick him to the curb. He’s done in SF.

Depth.
We all know Harbaugh would never lie to a player about playing time.
what does ppl expect.. im a NYG fan and all i ever heard from jacobs was something he was complaining about.. he split time but that wasnt good enough so whats he do barks about the fans bec we barked how he gotten to soft with his tiptoeing and we all know his bread and butter is running ppl over which he stopped doing.. and in turn leaves us to go play behind frank gore? now hes complaining again..
i like jacobs and all i wouldnt mind seeing him play behind wilson and bradshaw and get some chances but if hes gonna complain then why bother?
I’d see maybe Mike Tomlin picking him up. He’d fit right in with Mike’s laid-back approach, and teammates that take games off regularly. Plus, with Mendenhall on the outs…
The reason the 49ers haven’t released him is because they don’t want a competing team like the Giants or Redskins getting their hands on a disgruntled player like Jacobs, who for the slightest reason will give up the teams inside information and damage the road through the playoffs that lead to the Superbowl.
Can anyone say “locker room cancer”
He is still a good player
If Harbaugh wasn’t going to use him he should’ve just cut him. He signed the contract but it was in good faith that he was going to have an opportunity to compete for playing time. I’m no fan, and he’s certainly no Marcus Allen, but this reminds me of that situation. In the real world, if you’re prevented from doing the job you signed up for, you can always quit and find another job. Why should the NFL be any different???
Depth? They just signed Ryan Torian and Kregg Lumkin…..Jacobs is pretty close to being out of football, Giants dont need the drama
Giants “fans” who shoot off about Jacobs show how misinformed they are and have been about Jacobs for years.

If by using him you mean getting ahold of the niners playbook yeah that’s probably true. If you mean they are scared to play against him you would be incredibly wrong. BJ doesn’t offer much anymore. He is too busy tip toeing behind the line these days. Also cutting him they would be forced to pay him. Suspending him they don’t

How do you know he wasn’t given opportunity in practice and he did not produce. He wasn’t going to steal carries from Gore or Hunter. Not much left other than that. It was unrealistic to expect more from a team with good depth.
I don’t hear Moss complaining.
Early in Jacob’s career Tiki Barber advised Jacobs NOT to be that piledriver he was initially, in order to lengthen his career.Subsequently,he developed his tiptoe technique of running.I will say in the playoffs he returned to his bulldozing running style and was effective.I for one would welcome Brandon back to the Giants for another shot at a ring.
Another Harbaugh mistake that dates back to August. Brandon should have been cut and Rock Cartwright should have made the team. Cheaper and plays Special Teams and didn’t have baggage.
Don’t worry Brandon will give it all up to the Giants if the niners meet the Giants again this year. So be prepared to change you audibles. That will be his F U to the Harbaugh.

First of all, he must be doing something in practice or else he wouldn’t complain. Secondly, Hunter’s on IR leaving Dixon and James, so I can see where he might think he should be playing over those two. Finally, don’t compare him to Moss because he’s ringless, so no complaints will come from him if he realistically wants a shot at a SB at this point in his career.

Well that about answers it
Who wants to bet that the Jets pick him up….
Buh Bye now.
Maybe you can try to go on Shark Tank and raise money for your POS training system.
Oh, yeah you already tried that and failed. Same ole same ole.
Buh bye!!!
Who?
Niners suck.
The perfect landing spot for Brandon Jacobs in 2013 is the Eagles.
Bryce Brown is a compulsive fumbler, and was exposed as a fraud last week when he had to face a real run defense.
