for those thinking that Caldwell will be able to give Pees the “secret formula” for beating Manning….stop.
Pees (and every other dc) has had 14 years of game film on Manning.if that hasn’t helped…. I highly doubt a lunch with a former coach will.

You do realize that no one in the AFC East has a winning record besides the Pats? Playing the Bills, Dolphins and hapless Jets twice a year is the only reason the Pats remain relevant year after year. When was the last time any of those teams posed a threat to win the AFC Least?

All Jim Caldwell did in Indy was look at peyton manning run the entire offense while he did nothing to improve his defense. Everybody knows Peyton Mannings tendencies, the problem is stopping him. You never know what play he is going to choose in the no huddle.
The only way to stop Peytons Manning is to destroy that Denver defense (Houston and New England) or Peyton self destruction (Falcons). He’s too hot right now especially with a solid running game. It’s almost like those days he had edgerrin James back there…..almost

1. Charlie Batch, a 3rd string 38 year old QB beat the Ravens in Baltimore.
2. Rober Griffin III, a 22 year old rookie QB and his backup QB beat the Ravens.
3. Peyton Manning is no Charlie Batch nor a Robert Griffin III.

The Broncos are on a 8 game winning streak and have a long week to prepare for a team that Manning has historically dominated and who is on a 2-game losing streak and just fired their offensive coordinator mid-week, hmm I wonder who I should pick?

It does not matter if you know Manning’s tendencies, what matters is if he knows yours. The guy is amazing a picking apart a defense, especially one that likes to blitz.

Wildcard that nobody is discussing: Ravens new OC in Jim Caldwell (QB coach all season) was Peyton’s QB coach for years. He knows his tendencies. He knows plenty about his offense and let’s be honest, the Broncos offense IS the offense- very similar, if not exactly the same- as the one Peyton ran in Indy. If Caldwell has an opportunity to get with Pees and give him some insight into Mannings tendencies, we may have a good shot at controlling him.

Second wildcard: Ray Lewis back in the mix. The defense has done well without Ray, but to have your playcaller back in there is HUGE. People continue to knock him for losing a step, but the man audibles the defense and to go against a QB who audibles 75% of his plays, having an equally impressive player on D to do the same? This will be one hell of a chess match.

I ain’t talkin’ smack after losing 2 in a row. However, the Ravens have a knack for overcoming adversity and I expect them to do it on Sunday. I think our new OC will come up with a slightly nuanced game plan, more up tempo, and maybe even a new play or two. Time will tell if this is a viable Ravens playoff team and the time starts ticking on Sunday.

As a Broncos fan, I have to say that I am much more at ease going into Baltimore with PFM than I ever have been. Especially with him over the guy that used the dirt as his primary reliever. Pretty sure you know who that is.
