trade him now along with Wallace so we can get a few more or better draft picks next year. The jets would probably give up a lot to have them and then let them become back ups.

Wide receivers and running backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Frankly I don’t know why teams bother drafting them.

I’m not a Steelers fan but this young man is screwing his future in so many ways. Why any player would want to run afoul of a classy and CHAMPIONSHIP franchise like Pittsburgh is puzzling, maybe the Patriots can get through to him after he’s ignored by the rest of the NFL and signed by New England for the league minimum.

To answer your question, ravenator: No, I don’t wish we’d drafted Ray Rice. Whatever mistakes he’s made since, Mendenhall had a great regular season in 2010, with a very low rate of fumbles. His contributions played a large role in getting us to the Super Bowl. Ray Rice is a great player. But he’s never helped the Ravens win an AFC Championship. So even though we lost the Super Bowl, that still makes Mendenhall more valuable than Rice.

Mendenhall didn’t single-handedly lose the Super Bowl. His fumble was forced, and one of a series of mistakes on both offense and defense. He’s no more personally responsible for that loss than Ben or Troy. As for his ill-conceived Twitter comments … well, he was about 10 when 9/11 happened and grew up exposed to nonstop Internet conspiracy theories. No wonder he has some screwy ideas. It’s sad, but when you live in a free society, people are entitled to spread their views–whether we like them or not. His comments have nothing to do with his football abilities. If given a chance, I’m sure he could be an asset to the team again.

Steelers wouldn’t have beaten the Eagles this season without Mendenhall. He carried the offense that day. In a season in which wins have been hard to come by, the masses shouldn’t be so shortsighted…
Mendenhall is coming off reconstructive knee surgery. His career is probably over. Such is life in the National Football League.
Mendenall should be remembered as a productive running back in Bruce Arian’s keep-Ben-happy passing offenses.

mendenhall should have been active, and redman should have been inactive. of all the fumbles against cleveland, i thought redmans was the worst. he just has not stepped up and made plays. dropping that pass on a 3rd down that was an easy first down and right in his hands.

get him going and they may get back on track, but something has to light a fire.

He’s still young and has physical tools. It’s a nice opportunity to get a guy like that with a chip on his shoulder so long as you are going to play into him and give him excessive respect and appreciation. Guys like that have to be fed, so the team that offers him a shot has to be prepared to tolerate his personality and accommodate him, otherwise they are wasting their time.

Titus Young is going to be a good player too. Somebody will treat him like a grownup and then he’ll play hard and focused for them.

Actually i’m impressed, to find a pro football player that’s upset that he’s not going to play in the game as opposed to it all being about the money……. No money grab here, only emotions tied to “We play to win the game”

Any team that decides to pick this guy up should require him to read about Pat Tillman, and what honor and integrity mean. He’s certainly made his own bed here, like Santonio Holmes did.

BTW, why is every Steelers fan I meet in person genuinely nice and respectable, while the ones on this forum tend to be the opposite?

He’s a restricted free agent at the end of the season, so I wonder if the Steelers will tender him anything in hopes of picking up a draft pick from another team. He has been a disappointment for the Steelers, but he still has talent and is young. There’s a few teams out there that will give him a shot next year to at least make their 53,

No, it’s too late. It’s been years since he’s been anything more than average to C- running back. Not worth anyone signing him in my opinion, although I’m willing to bet the Ratbirds pick him up as they have a tendency to eat the crumbs that fall from our table.

Like I have been saying for weeks. Mendenhall and Wallace will both be wearing a Colts uniform next year. I understand that both players no longer fit in with the Steelers but i have a feeling both players will blow up with a change of scene.

You just know these players are over paid when they decide they dont have to show up for a game on Sunday because they wont play anyways thus volunteering to throw $41,000 down the toilet and have it mean not a thing to them,if he wanted to lose that much money he could have donated it to charity instead of burning it up.when will these prina donnas start to understand just what signing an NFL contract means other than making them super rich stripper chasers.
