Packers could get Clay Matthews back, not Jordy Nelson

As the Packers try to nail down their second straight NFC North crown, they still have multiple injured players.

One is likely returning this week.  Another one isn’t.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that the “plan” is for linebacker Clay Matthews to play.  Receiver Jordy Nelson, however, remains a “long shot.”

Matthews has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury.  Nelson, who aggravating a hamstring injury against the Vikings 10 days ago, missed Sunday night’s 27-20 win over the Lions.

The Packers face the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.

  1. Would be fantastic to get CM3 back but don’t hurry it. Same with Jordy, get them back so we can ease them in against the Titans and Vikings and be ready for the playoffs.

Cutler loves to throw to the Packers.

  2. Hopefully he can cause havoc as normal.

The secondary is starting to get better since the start of the season a lot of young guys had to learn on the fly due to injuries but now with Shields back, and a more effective pass rush, they may be able to make more plays on poorly thrown balls.

Then hopefully Woodson can come back, and be effective for the playoff push.

13 NFL Championships – including beating your boys 2 years ago….LMAO.

  4. Through the first 8 games of the season, GB led the NFL in sacks with Matthews accounting for less than half of them. Since Matthews went down, GB’s sack numbers are near the bottom of the league. If the Pack want to make a run, he needs to be healthy.

  6. Has to really drive Packer haters insane that they lose key starters like Matthews, Woodson, Jennings, Nelson, Bulaga, Lang, Bishop, etc. then just plug in whoever’s available and keep winning. Amazing work by GM Thompson and McCarthy and his coaches.

  7. I hope CM3 gets back in..

Like others have said.. a lot of the rookies are starting to contribute in a meaningful way. (I really liked Hayward pick.)

I wonder if Nick Perry been healthy.. and following the same lines of improvement as the other rookies.. what his impact opposite of CM3 would have been.

“After further reviw the Bears still suck!”

You need a new line already…And learn how to spell ‘review.’

  9. we had the no.1 ranked pass defense early in the year – led the league in sacks – then Perry/DJ go out for the year – Shields/Woodson/Clay get banged up….
Imagine how good our defense could be if fully healthy – DJ/Desmond in the middle – Clay & Perry on the outside …. ugh!

  10. Remember all of those sacks he had in that Seattle game?
    Nobody does…
Because the Hawks shut him down…
Sure hope these teams meet in the play offs…
RW3 is playing a lot better than he was in the first game…
Would really enjoy watching the Hawks stop the whining about that game with a decisive beat down of the Pack in the play offs!
    Go Hawks!

  11. Packers won’t get far in the playoffs. All their wins have been against Mediocre teams. Barely beating the Lions, Vikings, Jaguars, Cardinals, Rams. Once Jan. comes they’ll be one and out!
