and this is why we play the game. but ill say one thing. the niners defense has exceptional skill at every level. The line, the linebackers and the secondary. the niners are a rough vicious team that will hit you in the mouth on both offense and defense. This should be a great game. May the best team win.

The 9ers have absolutely NO chance @ winning this game! They have a great Defense, and will be able to “duke” it out with similar competition. The Pats are in a class of themselves. As a Viking Fan, I wish our leadership would try to emulate the Patriot system.
Brady is , IMO the best QB to ever play, you just cannot beat him with a great D and an average offense.

Also white hot spotlight of national tv on Aldon Smith? He had 3 sacks on mnf vs chicago and last year vs Pitt had a ton of sacks on a national prime time game too.

I find it funny detractors bring up the Rams games but won’t bring up the wins @ Green Bay and @ New Orleans. But sure doubt the niners because the Pats are the “hot team” right now. And please say the same thing next weekend for the Seattle game too.

@coacheskid:you may be right,but can our Oline allow TB to get his numbers up there.They did a really good job in most of the 1st half of the Houston game,however we also had 4 straight possessions without a score and only 1 3rd down conversion.We can’t win if Brady can’t get enough points on the board.I hope our Oline will be consistent.Losing this game would stink,but it wouldn’t be the end of the world.Losing Tom to injury would be close to it.

If this game comes down to the kickers, I like the Pats chances. Gostkowski hasn’t been great this year but Akers has been dreadful.

The Patriots are playing really well right now… and honestly… can win games with its defense (has not always been the case) … Niners got a big hill to climb… If the pats don’t turn the ball over… Niners loose. I think it will be close…

Note to Aldon Smith… do you really want that white hot spotlight on national TV… Calling out Solder is just plain stupid… and everytime a player runs off at the mouth before a big game almost always gets them rammed down their throat.

I hate both teams so its a win-win, especially if Pats pummel them…its a lesson in humility for saying you can stop them – Boy, are they setting themselves up. On the other hand, i’m a big fan of defense, and the Niners blow up people – nothing gives me greater thrills then seeing a team that frequently runs up the score getting smashed all over the field.

This game will be a classic, or a let down (esp. if Kapernick has turnovers….)

Everyone keeps doubting the niners. They did it last year when they faced the saint in the playoffs. They didn’t give the niners a chance. Saints were suppose to destroy them. Bree’s was having a historic season from the qb position as well as the saints offense as a whole. One of the best offensive seasons in NFL history. If I’m not mistaken Bree’s was on a roll before the niners game. He had a streak going of games without throwing an interception. I’m not saying the niners are gonna win because the patriots are probably the best team in the NFL but c’mon guys, they’re facing the best defense in the NFL. Should be a very good/close game. Defensively not a blow out by the patriots

The Niners seem to always play well against the top qbs in the league..They always seem to beat the high scoring offensive teams..Teams that beat the Niners are the ones who are built like the Niners..You have to be able to run the ball on them which few teams can and hit them in the intermediate passing game..The Pats are a great team but thay dont match up well against the Niners..Niners 28 Pats 21…..

Lets not get it twisted. The Niners 9-3-1 record is a mirage. We talking about a dominant 11-2 team that punches you in the mouth if 2011 Ackers showed up in 2012!

Thinking blow out is foolish? Terrible weather with expected snow storms. And don’t think for a minute CK7 cant play in frigid weather. The kid was breaking records in Reno Nevada. Its gonna be a close game.

This is muck-raking. I head the whole interview, and he sounded contrite, logical, like a good guy. He sounded like a Patriot interview, actually.

The Niners are WAY more physical than Houston, and moreso than any team the Pats have faced this year outside of Baltimore or maybe Seattle. It’s gonna be a hum-dinger!

Of course the Niners could stop the Pats… they have a great D and running game. Add a QB who doesn’t turn it over (put Smith in?) and they have as good a chance as anyone.

49ers don’t blitz like the Texans but don’t lead the NFL either. They have 32 sacks and Texans lead it with 37. 49ers far better pass coverage team because of it which is why this Monday Night game is going to be close. Pats should come out on top because Pats D at home versus QB who is still playing like a rookie.

Smith is a beast and should break the sack record this year without having Favre flop for him like Strahan did. Also the niners have slowed down every good and bad offense they played this year, so they won’t have to put up 40 points to win. I’m pretty sure 28 will be enough to pull this one out.

Look Aldon Smith is playing lights out this year and all but he was a top 10 draft pick, so I’m not sure “what a find” applies to this guy. Now if they grabbed him in the 5th like KC did with Jared Allen, then the “what a find” label would apply.

yeah, he is a first round pick, a top 10 pick, but name a pass rusher taken in the top 10 in the last 20 years you would want over what Aldon Smith is doing… I don’t think I need to list all the top 10 busts/underachievers for you to realize where I’m going with it.

I know there will be some bad calls, but I hope they are equally divided, so it becomes a nonissue. I’m confident The Patriots win, based on their continual improvement, but SF is a strong team, a great organization and anything can happen. May the winning team deserve it.
