Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took a playful shot at Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in talking to reporters on Wednesday, and in the process made a statement that he thinks the Steelers have the top fan base in the NFL.

“He plays for ‘America’s Team,’ right?” Roethlisberger said of Romo, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I think the Steelers are the world’s team.’”

Ooh, burn. This could be fun if a bunch of NFL quarterbacks get in on it. Tom Brady could jump in and say, “Oh, yeah? Well, the Patriots are the galaxy’s team!” And then Peyton Manning could be all like, “Well, the Broncos are the universe’s team!”

Or maybe not. In any event, Steelers fans will have a big opportunity to show that they are, indeed, the best fan base in the NFL on Sunday at Cowboys Stadium. Cowboys fans are already expressing concerns about the number of Terrible Towels that will be waved in the stands in Dallas. America’s Team hasn’t enjoyed much of a home-field advantage since Jerry Jones built his new football palace in Dallas, and thousands of fans of the world’s team will be there to try to give the Steelers a bit of a road-field advantage on Sunday.
