Jacobs was an ins. policy from day 1. He was working through injuries early on as well.

His services were never needed and he got more and more disgruntled as the season went on.

Harbaugh and Baalke actually had grounds to suspend him earlier on but they wanted to give him every benefit of the doubt.

His last comments were the last straw.

Yes, Jacobs was brought in as insurance and as a possible short-yardage specialist. Two things happened: Frank Gore has remained relatively healthy and still seems to have zip and Anthony Dixon seemed to have a fire lit under him, possibly because they DID bring in Jacobs and his job was in jeopardy. So, seeing as how Dixon has week-to-week value on special teams and Jacobs doesn't play special teams, Jacobs hasn't been on the active roster very much. The amazing thing to me is that Jacobs didn't understand all of this. Also, Gore has gotten better at short-yardage situations. He's even gone over the top of the pile a couple times this year, something he's rarely done in the past.

Hi, could you ask Matt Maiocco who brought Brandon Jacobs in, and why? Was this a difference of opinion between the front office and coaching staff? Was he just insurance in case Gore got hurt? Any truth to the rumor he gave signals to the Giants? Thanks!
