Cowboys to wear “53” decals to honor Jerry Brown

The Cowboys will honor the late Jerry Brown this weekend with a helmet decal.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, each Cowboys player will have a “53” sticker on his helmet to honor the practice squad linebacker who was killed in a car wreck last Saturday.

The team put in a request this week, and the NFL approved it Friday afternoon.

They clearly drew closer together last week in the wake of Brown’s tragic death, and this week’s symbol will keep his memory with them.

I wouldn’t do it. It’s tragic, no doubt, but the sticker will also remind them of the way he was lost and the actions of another that also wears (wore) a star on his helmet.

we all have choices. brown made the same choice as brent that night. his life may have been takin from him but hes the one who put it out there for the taking. not trying to say this wasnt tragic but brent shouldnt be made out to be a villain and brown some kind of hero or something.

They’re just paying tribute to a fallen friend, I don’t see any problem with that. It’s the common and I think appropriate response. He may not be with the team physically, but he is with the team in their heavy hearts.

The Pats did the same thing when Marquise Hill died in a jet skiing accident.

Remembering and glorifying are two different things. This decal is as much a sign of respect and condolences to Jerry Brown’s family as it is to Jerry Brown. No hero creating here. Just somber hearts for the fact that a man, made a bad decision – that many of us have made – and paid for it with his own life. Have some respect dude.

Brent needs to be reminded of his decision each and every day, had not already had a DUI it may be different. Yes Brown got in the car for what ever reason. I don’t think Brent should ever forget what he did, as a Cowboys fan I hope he never sets foot on the field again, Brown never will.
