When the Falcons last faced the Giants, they were able to score two points over 60 minutes of a 24-2 playoff loss.

They’ve bettered that output less than three minutes into Sunday’s matchup with the Giants. Michael Turner plunged in from a yard out to give Atlanta an early lead at the Georgia Dome. The score capped a short drive that saw Turner run four times for 16 yards, breaking a few poor tackle attempts by the Giants in the process. It’s the Falcons’ seventh touchdown on their opening possession this season.

Atlanta’s offense didn’t have much work to do thanks to an interception by cornerback Asante Samuel. Samuel jumped a pass intended for Hakeem Nicks, bobbled it and then corralled it to put the offense in prime scoring position. Running back David Wilson, starting in place of the injured Ahmad Bradshaw, got pushed back into Manning while trying to pass protect which might have contributed to the turnover.
