Comments on: Falcons roll to huge win over Giants

Is the last 3 years the only HISTORY that anyone knows??

How about…
2004 they beat St. Louis
2002 they beat Green Bay @ Green Bay (has hardly ever been done)
1998 they beat 49ers & Vikings before losing to the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

But hey, if you read and believe everything the media tells you then the Falcons have no success in the playoffs. It is only this regime that has not done well in the past 3 years. But they are new and young. Give them a little time.

Last year the Falcons lost to Giants who won the Super Bowl. Year before lost to Packers who won the Super Bowl. Three years ago lost to the Cardinals who then lost to the Steelers in the Super Bowl. The only team that doesn’t get a loss in the playoffs is the team that wins it all.

The Falcons in no way have a playoff record like the Packers, Giants, 49ers, or Patriots. But they all had to start somewhere. Hardly any team has the exact same roster as the previous year. Through free agency and injury teams are often very different from the previous season. So why isn’t each season judged on its own merit?

Why does the media say the Falcons can’t win a playoff game just because they haven’t in the past 3 years? Shouldn’t they also say that the 49ers can’t win the Super Bowl because they haven’t in the past 3 years? How about the Ravens or Texans?

Respect for the regular season. Absolutely. But the playoffs? Sorry, but they have to win a playoff game first. I think they are perfectly capable of winning a playoff game but history has shown that this team does not win in the playoffs at home or on the road. With or without a bye.

Remember, the Falcons were the number one seed in the NFC with a first round bye when a hot Packer team came to the dome and beat them senseless.

You want respect? Win a playoff game.

The pregame comments that ‘the Giants go the way Eli goes’ didn’t bode well after Samuels picked off Eli’s first pass.
My only fear at this point is that the Falcons may be peaking too early.

Couple things to note, Giants fans don’t run when things go sour, case and point here I am. Falcons had an awesome win and deserve a ton of credit and we will make no excuses for our performance.

1. The Giants still control their own playoff destiny, win their final two games and they are in.

2. One can only hope we see the Falcons again this season, because things will be quite interesting.

See you in January, you know when the Giants are at their best.

For all the Atl haters, wake up, the Falcon are for real. Changed some coordinators, got the right offense going. Two great receivers. Matt Ryan is on the rise. Sure we played some bad game, but every team has a few bad games in the season. We may not win a Super Bowl this but we will make people take notice that’s it the Falcons time.

You can enjoy watching RG3 and the Redskins competing to win the division every year and winning playoff games year in and year out, unlike the fluke Giants who haven’t won any playoff games outside of those two lucky years where it took miracles to win your playoff games.

And Redskins fans can’t say anything? I seem to remember Skins putting an L in your column 2 weeks ago that helped you get to 8-6. The reason you’re behind us in the standings, remember? Plus we whooped up on the Giants earlier this year as well and the Giants escaped, as they admitted themselves.

Laughing awfully loud for a team that still has NOT won anything. This season isn’t over. It is a 3 way tie for 1st. Yeah, you hold the tiebreaker, but the Cowboys can still get in your way too, Nostradamus.
And by the way, losing to the Giants does not constitute “whooping up on”.

OK so let’s look at the hurdles the falcons over came as a team this year.
Week 2 Denver on Monday night (primetime against peyton)
Week 3 @SD west coast against a hot team on a short week(not as impressive)
Week 4-6 4th qrt winning drives
Week 8 @Philly (haven’t won there since the 80s and first loss Philly had after a bye under Andy Reid)
*First time in franchise history starting 8-0
Week 12 @TB (one of the hottest teams at the time beat them in their building)
Week 13 NO (Another primetime game & got the monkey off their back with their “big brother”)
Week 15 NYG (we all know the 24-2 and this was a great way to let the world know this year is different)
Literally to this point they have gotten every “monkey” off their back. How are you not sold that this team is different? The only thing left is what we’ll accomplish in 4 weeks

I think 2 points would have sufficed today. For those who say it means nothing, maybe so, but I’d bet the Giants fans are not the ones saying that. What it means is the Falcons were better in this particular game. It is no guarantee that ATL beats the 9er’s or Pack, but it does mean that the 9er’s and Pack should pack a lunch.

As a Giants fan, I’ve never been this embarrassed by the team. This was as bad as it gets. But Patriots and Redskins fans really shouldn’t be gloating. The Patriots and Skins had NOTHING to do with this loss. If any fans get to gloat, it’s Falcons fans.

Congrats, Falcons (and their fans). You beat em but good. No excuses.

Giants don’t seem motivated in some games. Seems like coaches not preparing well. This has been going on for a couple years. That d-line is overrated, and seems to lack a leader. Is Blackburn the only one who gives a damn? Looks like it.

The oline and dline were pure crap. Most of the d was too seemed like chase was playing on his own.

Eli can’t throw to himself and if Dave diehl (well the whole line) keeps opening the door to pass rushers then there aren’t going to be accurate deep (or even short) passes.

Same goes for rushing … Wilson etc aren’t going to truck a 300 lbs d tackle.

Giant fan here. When they started the last 4 games I thought they would go 2 out of 4 & just miss the playoffs. After today all bets are off. They lose the next 3. The Redskins win the division. Giants finish with a four game losing streak. Gawd we suck!

arrogantnation: The Giants looked awful, not Eli. The defense sucked and so did the entire offensen not even a field goal, that was disgusting. Also Hixon, Cruz, Wilson and others could not catch the ball, missed Eli passes. The entire team was disorganised. The team was all over the map. It is so easy to blame Eli. Blame the whole team, not Eli. The entire team needs an overhaul.
